1/1001 I really enjoyed some tracks (Shangai Noodle Factory, Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring, Pearly Queen, Whatever the Hell They Were About With 40.000 Headman) but hated the opener so much I was getting ready to rate it 2/5. It's a 4, but I like my 60s groovier and trippier.

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron

2/1001 Banger opener, I really dig that kind of atmospheres Somehow it doesn't feel too quiet (as I tend to think of, for example, Lonnie Liston Smith's stuff) Gil's voice is very addictive H20Gate Blues is the obvious highlight here, but the more musical titles are all good and I can definitely see myself listening to this album a lot Oh and of course, that's the "The Bottle" album Fuck it, 5/5

4/1001 Seeing the cover and hearing the intro that sounds a bit like a pop version of De La Soul, I thought I'd be in for a sort of hip-hop-meets-breaks-meets-pop-meets-fusion Well, it's pretty conventional (AFAIK, I'm not versed in the genre) house music with endearing vocals. Not bad, but not transcendent either. They aren't from Manchester and they're not Cibo Matto either... 3/5

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire

4/1001 2/5 This inarguably is music. It just does f* all to me emotionally, except maybe Month of May. The songs are too long, the album is too long ... And that comes form a firm believer in Oasis' Be Here Now Prepare to be bored

5/1001 I'm not ver well versed in this genre of music, but I like what I heard; I think I prefer when electronic music is (was?) more on the lo-fi side due to the older gear. Someone on here called it "dated" and I think that's why it's so palatable to a 60s nut like me 4/5 boiiii

6/1001 Only losers can dislike this, this is peak International Person of Mystery music. If you never wear sunglasses indoors after dark, you cannot comprehend how good this is and you are not allowed to have an opinion on this record. 5/5
