1001 Albums Summary

Well this is a well known album so nothing new to me. I am more familiar with some other titles from SD though like Aja, Gaucho and Katy Lied. As always a solid classic rock listen, SD are accomplished, polished musicians with their own sound and excellent studio work. The hits on the album I know much more then the other tracks so it was a good chance to hear them again. Probably won't be one I buy but an excellent album.

While they are a solid band I’ve never much liked U2. Revisiting this album I’d say it’s definitely on the softer side, almost reminding me of the easy listening vibes of the era. While I’m sure that contributed to its success it made it less enjoyable for me. While not a ds. In general I prefer when they are a little edgier and experimental ala Zooropa.

I've decided to rate everything subjectively rather than objectively as these all have plenty of critic ratings out there. This is of course a super solid classic rock album, excellent mastering and dynamics, big impact. Down a star simply because for me it's a bit of a slog style wise outside Bloody Well Right, Asylum and the title track. Was a good listen though and it had been a long time since I'd heard it.

Easy listening for indie rock fans. I can see these folks are competent musicians and production is solid but I simply found this boring and had to force myself to pay attention to it. Very textbook above average band with nothing particularly unique to their flavor.

I'm not really a Rolling Stone's fan but give them their due. This is a solid and obviously iconic album of there's. It was a good relisten but it did not change my views on the band in any way. Several standout Stone songs on here like Brown Sugar and Can't You Hear Me Knocking along with some deeper stuff like Sister Morphine. This is probably the Stone's at their best.

What a slog! A well executed and melodic slog but a slog none the less. Ringo was a vastly better album. I tried to frame it in the context of the times but then saw it was released in 1970. That year gave us Sex Machine, Bitches Brew, Loaded, Fun House, Zeppelin II Paranoid for Lemmy's sake! In a year of such groundbreaking and emotional work I truly fail to see how this qualifies, being a Beatle isn't enough.

I hadn't heard this in some time. While Exit Planet Dust was a great listen at home or on the dance floor this one yearns for the clubs. The tracks are all excellent from a mixing perspective but are dynamic enough to not be boring when listening in the traditional sense. Electrobank and Piku are standouts in my opinion.

Not my favorite TH album but an excellent one none the less. Eno never hurts and you can hear the roots of the 80's TH I love so much in these tracks. It had been a while so it was great to revisit and made me think I should pick up a copy.
