1001 Albums Summary

David Bowie can do no wrong. Obviously knew most of the songs on this album but don’t think I’ve ever listened to it back to front and don’t think I’ve ever even heard Wild is the Wind before (which coincidentally was my least fav song on the album). Not getting 5 stars just because I don’t feel the drive to listen to it back to front again but I love the majority of the songs so let’s go with 4. TVC15 is probably in my top ten fav bowie songs. Did not realize station to station was an 11 min song (apparently Bowie’s longest ever)… the second half is more up my alley than the first but still a good track. i just looked up what the title track is about was about and its very very weird and apparently bowie barely remembered recording it bc he was on a lot of coke! The article also said “The title track to Bowie’s Station to Station album can be looked upon as the transition between the highly successful funk-infused Young Americans released the previous year and his more experimental Berlin trilogy begin with Low.” which i think is a good explanation about why its not my fav bowie bc i love his funky stuff. All that being said, it’s good nonetheless! Thanks David!

hmmmm sounded like rush to me … i listened twice and by the end i do kind of get it but i dont think that this is my music. the beginning of the final song is fire. firmly in the i can appreciate it category. if 1 is unlistenable and 2 is strongly dislike than this would be a 3 — tolerable but not for me.

this album is really good. i got a litttttllleee bored towards the end just bc all the songs start to sound the same but overall i really enjoyed it. lullaby is a really cool track. everyone loves the cure

my first 5 stars!!! i don’t think i knew a single song on this album but it was fire all the way through. ogre battle is so legendary. queen!

pretty much this album really pissed me off. It’s the reason that I have to take a three month hiatus from 1001 albums. I’ve decided to come back and this album is the demon that I have to face. I’m sure there is something cool in it somewhere … but I don’t like it. I think it’s bad. I think it’s boring. I feel like I’m at the tavern (derogatory). maybe one day I will be able to appreciate fairport convention the same way the UK did in the late 60s when it was number 17 for 15 weeks straight. I literally can’t even make it through it. I think I might not give it a one because there is one song that I thought was kind of cool and I’m being a little bitch about it but mostly hate this album. ok no i decided im giving it a 1

this album was the second reason i had to pause on reviewing albums. sue me but i couldn’t get through it. giving it a 2 because i think in isolation some of the songs are good but as a collection i was so bored

unfortunately an extremely good album. listening makes you introspective as hell. in a movie these are the songs that play when the main characters life is finally moving forward, for better or for worse. getting 4 stars for now bc it’s not a perfect no skips (3rd track not for me) but wow it’s really good. travis will be pleased. “i’ll let you be in my dreams if you let me be in yours … i said that”, unfortunately, again, a great as a lyric.
