Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Jan 27 2026

Love the raw, roots, blues sound. Excellent guitar- such a talented player. I really feel the guitar solos. Deep powerful voice. I haven’t listened to much of this music before. Great to be introduced to his sound. Know the name of course. Sounds like music I would expect from the 1950’s. Surprised to hear it’s 1977.

Who's Next by The Who
Jan 28 2026

I know this is filled with well known, iconic songs, but it’s just not my jam. However, I do like: Behind Blue Eyes.

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Jan 29 2026

Genre? Punk? Punk-pop? Ska-ish? I think I would have liked this album and seeing the band live when I was in high school. It’s got a youthful sound and energy. I like the British flavor. Second half of album different sound than the first (liked 2nd half more) Not sure that’s listen to it today at this point in my musical “journey”. (Dislike: the cover)

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Jan 30 2026

So much dissonance. Such looong songs. I recognize the level of talent of the musicians. I liked the instrumental solos. I do like jazz and 1950s jazz, but this album was tough for me to listen to straight through from start to finish.

The Doors by The Doors
Feb 02 2026

Great album, except for Alabama Song (Whisky Bar) which I found incredibly grating. I’m a tough grader (apparently). Want to give it 4.5 but as that’s not possible, giving it 5.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Feb 03 2026

Liked it a lot. Pros: fun, positive lyrics, sampling from other songs is well done, feel good vibes. Cons: sounds a little dated, beats are a little repetitive. Would have loved this in the 1990s. Reminds me of A Tribe Called Quest who I loved back then.

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Feb 05 2026

This album feels like it can’t make up its mind what it’s wants to be. Too many song writers, too many styles.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Feb 06 2026

Really love the song “Wish You Were Here” The whole album is a mood. Took a while to settle into it (for me at least) Was going to give it a 4 or 5, but didn’t like last song AT ALL

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Feb 09 2026

I love everything about this album. Loved it when it came out; love it now. 5 +++

Close To You by Carpenters
Feb 11 2026

The cover of The Beatles “Help!” was painful to listen to. Ugh! I think I only liked one song on the entire album: (They Want To Be) Close To You. That said it’s impossible to deny Karen Carpenter’s vocal talent (wow) or her talent as a drummer. The album as a whole is worth a (1); Karen’s talent a (5). So giving it a (3)

Make Yourself by Incubus
Feb 12 2026

Tried to keep an open mind. Unbearable

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Feb 16 2026

Liked this a lot. Had never heard his music before.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Feb 16 2026

“Somebody To Love” is one of my favorite late 1960’s song. And “White Rabbit”- so good! Enjoyed the album more on the second listen than the first. Fun 60’s album.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Feb 24 2026

Must have heard this growing up or in college. I recognized several songs. It’s a good, pretty mellow, jazz album. I know it’s a bit “backgrounnd music”-y, but sometimes that’s ok.
