The concept album aspect is cool but the songs there don’t hit as much as they should. Then the back half is also cool but a few of the songs don’t have enough to them to leave much of a lasting impression. One of the first things I checked out of the library when I was starting to get into music more was Jackson’s Number Ones compilation album. I’ve always been more of a singles guy re:MJ, but I appreciated the album tracks here quite a bit too. Man in the Mirror is extremely corny but it also reminds me of his classic Free Willy banger with the whole choir thing so I still love it.
