Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 04 2026

Not a favorite of mine, though I did enjoy the last track "Jungleland" quite a bit

In Utero by Nirvana
Feb 05 2026

Liked the music. Lyrics are heavily abstract and feel a bit out there. Don't love them.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Feb 06 2026

Superstition is an obvious winner, though it feels out of place on this record. I liked it. That's all I got.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Feb 07 2026

I don't get it. It's hard to rate an artist's work without context and familiarity, but since I am to rate with my existing knowledge, I didn't care for it. Lazarus was the shining track. Meanwhile I'd be happy to never have to hear "Girl Loves Me" again. I dig some of his early stuff but this is such a departure from that, and not a good one in my opinion. I agree with those who say this album gets more praise than it deserves for being a swan song only.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Feb 08 2026

Dig the bass guitar on "The Wait" and the instrumentals throughout but especially on "Private Life". The songs with simpler instrumentation are my favorite. Really dig this one. Wasn't familiar with Pretenders before now. This was a happy introduction.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Feb 09 2026

This one was a chore to get through. Listened to 50% of every track wanting to be convinced to play each through but wasn't. I didn't hate it. I think there's a specific (and rare) time, place, and mood in which I might like to play a *couple* tracks from this album, but to sit through an hour of what feels like the same melodramatic, subdued melody over and over again? Hard pass. If anything, it strikes me as good background music for passive listening while doing a focused activity like studying. Every track on this album sounds too similar. There's little intrigue for me. And how does this go on for over an hour!? It's altogether fitting that there's a song called "Wasted Hours" on this album. It's a fitting description of my experience listening to it. Not for me.

Play by Moby
Feb 10 2026

Good atmospheric background music. I can see driving or studying to this. As for critical listening, it's a slog fest. I can appreciate it for what it is. The instrumentation over samples is creative albeit repetitive. Not bad, though not for me.

Want Two by Rufus Wainwright
Feb 16 2026
Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Feb 17 2026

I got respect for Dave Grohl as a person and musician. To create an album like this as a solo endeavor is impressive. I can appreciate this record and I enjoyed the listen. It's not something I'd likely listen to again, however. It feels a bit generic and unremarkable. The mix had the vocals way too overshadowed. Idk what it is with grunge but why do so many artists insist on singing their lyrics inaudibly? What's the point of even singing if I can't understand a word of what is being said?
