Popular Reviews

Blur by Blur

Sorry, no. Not my cup of tea. "Song 2" is pretty much a standard, to be sure, but there's not much more on this one for one to hang one's hat. Not unpleasant, but definitely not one I'd go back to anytime soon.

1984 by Van Halen

"Jump" still sounds as fresh today as it did 40-plus years later... then again, so does the whole album. They never topped this one. Solid from beginning to end.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Feb 03 2026

Slightly better than "Master Of Reality" with a clearer sound. Still not one I find myself going back to often, but when I do, I find I enjoy it.

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Feb 04 2026

Feels like richer orchestration behind her deliveries, but I kinda wish she had adopted a little more of the Memphis funk. A bit dated, but not unpleasant.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Feb 05 2026

Slightly dated, but the hit singles still are fun to listen to. Natural first step that led to "Thriller".

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Feb 07 2026

Not as solid of an album as I remember it, but still enjoyable. "How Soon Is Now" remains the highlight. What carries the album is the overall musicianship, not necessarily Morrissey's vocals.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Feb 08 2026

Quite possibly (still) Metallica's high-water mark. No offense meant towards Jason Newstedt, but Cliff Burton will always be the GOAT when it comes to Metallica's bass lines.

1984 by Van Halen

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Feb 10 2026

Intriguing second effort from Hendrix. Features him moving more into the psychedelic realm with some of his efforts and embracing a little more funk, but not quite ready to give up the all-out rock that first gave him success. The album has to grow on you, but it's worth the effort.
