Learning this was improvised on a shitty piano: sick
Personal enjoyment: I dont really get anything out of piano solos. Hopefully by the end of this concert I will be more cultured
This album made me laugh out loud which is always five stars in my book.
It had the correct amount of angst(which is all of it, all the time), just enough unseriousness, and a surprising amount of relatability. A bop.
Live albums are better serviceable to fans, not people hearing the music for the first time.
Johnny Cash's cowboy cadence is soothing. The instrumentals were definitely the aspect that suffered in the live recording.
As a firm non-fan of ballad-y rock music, I was surprisingly not turned off by the beginning songs of this album.
Likely because the weather is nice today so I'm more amenable. Good thing I'm not a professional music critic.
The slow, characteristically 90s love songs were vibey(although they are something I typically do not enjoy listening).
I think I was mostly drawn to the weird instrumentals that diversified my listening experience. I could not begin to pick apart all the tools they used(i know exactly nothing about music production), but I actually went back and relistened to some of the songs because my brain really, really liked how everything harmonized. (Esp acrobat)
The first half of the album was slower to get into, but I was bopping along to the second half.
I do not typically listen to the genre(s) this artist makes music in, but the lyricism on "as yet untitled" was haunting, and a couple of the other songs had really interesting parts that were pleasant to my brain.
According to reviews, I think I would enjoy his later albums more.
I'm glad I learned about this artist.
dont do drugs
I was saving my 1 star reviews for the worst of the worst, and this album was going to skate by(because the whiplash made me laugh) until I realized I was only 4 songs in and still had 30 mins of listening time.
And that made me mad
The background singers in "all I want" sound like the seagulls from Finding Nemo.
This is what I imagine singing impersonators sound like when performing covers on cruise ships.
I listened through the entire album and then realized I didnt absorb a single lyric.
I went back and read through and realized I wasn't missing anything
Great background rock music!
Dnf this pissed me off too much
Why tf is a dj on here and in what world is this a cohesive album
Bob Dylan is studied in American literature for a reason. He has a way of telling stories about the forgotten and the everyday that leaves one restless. He embodies the spirit of the vintage American dream(the unattainable kind, the "what really happens to dreamers")
I can imagine the impact his music had at the time it was released. It still hits soundly today
Listening to this album outside, while doing physical labor. Probably the best way to do it.
A decent chunk of his music(and this album) are love poems that never should have been sung(at least by him jfc) but there was enough I put on repeat. Jack of Hearts carried.
track 1 sounds like they took samples from a toilet lol
I now wonder the phenomena that occurred to skyrocket Bob Dylan and Neil young to fame despite not being able to hold any kind of musical note.
I enjoyed the lyricism and funky soul rock vibe Neil gave on this album. Would not listen on my own.
Put me on a beach and give me this album please.
What a time to be alive to have this in my ears
