Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Feb 09 2026

I wouldn't mind at all if it was playing at a bar or something. If my friend put it on though I'd tell them to turn it the fuck off. It feels like it wants to be laid back and relaxing but the vocals are so grating it hits a weird middle ground where it's just nothing. I keep coming back to find why it's so popular but everytime it just feels like sitting around and waiting to die in a care home. Thank god for the saxophone though. Everytime I was nodding off it blasted my ears and woke me up.

Obviously 'More Than A Feeling' is an absolute banger. Surprisingly the rest of the album kinda holds up (Not on the same level as the opener though obviously). The album doesn't outstay it's welcome and is varied enough to end satisfyingly. I feel like it's a CD you'd stick on just to hear the first song and then leave on anyway because it's just that dang good ol cheesy rock. It is very cheesy 70s but we like a bit of cheese don't we. An album you cannot go wrong on.

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line

as somebody who has just come out of a test tube an hour ago, this is the most unique album i've ever heard. it doesn't sound anything like katy perry at all!

it's alright if not slightly irritating at times. no idea why this is here and not any of their way better albums but ok i guess. "what gets heard" made me want to blow my head off.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Feb 21 2026

Got excited when I saw the album cover. Actually thought I was going to listen to something cool. He's an American Beatle everyone! Good if you like the Beatles I'm guessing. Gotta Get Up, Without You and Jump Into The Fire are definitely the best songs on the album. Thing is though, why the fuck would you ever make Coconut?? I'm going to actively avoid putting this album on because I don't want to listen to fucking "she put de lime in de coconut she drank em boat up,". All in all it just feels like a bad version of Ogden's Nut Gone Flake.

Can't imagine Jello's voice is for everyone but you can't deny it's a really fun album. The only song I'd ever skip is "Ill In The Head" but it's still not bad. Solid punk album one of the solidest ever solider than most.

Third by Portishead
Feb 23 2026

If only Portishead (the place) was as good as this album. Incredibly bleak but weirdly comforting in some places. I feel like they'd be great in creating a soundtrack for a mentally distressed alcoholic detective on a strange case with some major hang ups hmmmmmmmmmm.......

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins

It's good not for me though
