Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Mar 06 2026

while i'm a big fan of weird noises i found myself skipping tracks out of boredom. My mean review is this is a 90's take on 60's pop while one member of the band is desperately trying to make through all the presets on their casio keyboard

Blackstar by David Bowie
Mar 09 2026

This feels like Bowie does 'hail to the thief' and album that was 13 years old by the release of this A pity she was a whore? I was hoping for some sort of subversion but it feels more like a musical number gone wrong After the first 2 weird tracks it calms down to an actually good modern Bowie album. His weird distinctive voice plus pounding instrumentation

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Mar 10 2026

It is a crime that they link to the 'remastered' version. But otherwise it's dusty Springfield and co at full power. If that's your ham this is pretty fantastic. For me you can occasionally hear the English soul diva stumble on the material

Copper Blue by Sugar
Mar 11 2026

In theory this is everything I should love solid beat, sweet riffs. Sort of trite poppy lyrics. But I just can't stand his voice also I can hear the start of my least favourite phase of music 'post-grunge-guitar-rock' in this. Oh god it just start to sound the same

Mar 12 2026

I have a really hard time rating this. I can see why it's important I enjoyed bits of it. But also it has strong Shoreditch dude sampling cultures they don't engage with. The mixing of jungle sounds with Lebanese folk singers feels not great even fir the time

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Mar 16 2026

Ah delicious stupid 90s rock you can definitely hear the shadow of nirvana on this. I definitely didn't like these guys when I heard them the first time around. But now it's kind of fun and nostalgic

Back In Black by AC/DC
Mar 17 2026

What is there to say if this is your shit this is the classic. Me I find it... Fine...

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Apr 06 2026

What is there to say it janis joplin doing what made her one of the most reconiazable voices.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Apr 07 2026

lovely miles davis jazz greeat to put on in the background.

Apr 08 2026

kind of lovely indie nonesnse, it feels like somehting alot of people are referencing badly. the sort of talk singing is kind of complelling. feels very townses van zandtsish

Apr 09 2026

yeah it's mtotrhead if your in the mood then it's great otherwise i prefer the things they influenced more

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Apr 10 2026

a sort of neo-r&B it chills out to into a pretty interesing vibey lil albumn, i'm a sucker for indian rhythms so i had fun with some of the more folk infused tracks

Apr 13 2026

man he was so big in the 2000 but 25 years allater this albumn just lands as whiney; an entire albumn about how hard it is to be famous/top of the rap industry... along with a desperate wish to not take any resposibility for thie things his music inspired in people

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Apr 14 2026

this i just kind of nothing , early 70's with lots of kind of gestures to the worst excesses of the 60's . I have heard all these songs done better by other people.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Apr 15 2026

It's hard to rate this as I listened to the history of this song in the podcast history of rock in 500 songs. So can feel how revolutionary it was at the time. Though not my jam now

Who's Next by The Who
Apr 22 2026

Man what an album, I love the who so this is my shit. But also just teenage wasteland is one of the best ways to start an album
