Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Mar 27 2026

This whole album sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday, and if it was, it would probably sung by Julian Casablanca or Cameron Winter, if that says anything about who it has influenced. The title track is a fun interpolation of the Bo Diddley beat and has probably been ripped itself a thousand times. Other songs are great but few are as memorable as The Passenger, which Siouxsie and the Banshees absolutely nailed. Bowie's presence is appreciated and never overshadowing, definitely a solid listen, but never a record I had thought of going back to.

1984 by Van Halen

Fun dumb rock and roll, it's not my favorite from VH (Fair Warning) but worth a listen. My conservative parents who grew up in the 80's hate VH to this day, but I'm sure they also heard these songs played to death.

All Directions by The Temptations

I couldn't help thinking they sounded like Veggie Tales characters on Run Charlie Run and couldn't stop thinking about the Kirkinator, killer funk instrumentals otherwise. Love the genre but this album just wasn't for me.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple

Ian Paice is a darn good drummer, and I would love to sound like Jon Lord on organ, but I've never wanted to revisit DP even if I got immense respect for most of them as musicians. Child in Time is a banger but the rest of the album is forgettable and Ian Gillan's high parts irritate me on every song.
