1001 Albums Summary

It’s the VU album I can listen to most easily. I like how calm, honest, and unpretentious it feels—almost like imagining what it would be like to rehabilitate a heroin addict, or realizing they have a life full of emotions, just like any of us. It’s gentle in its texture, yet firm in its truths.

It’s a perfect album to listen to calmly, to enjoy and create your own atmosphere, but also to approach in a more sophisticated way and analyze it as a whole—without even taking into account all its historical importance and the legend who created it

A futuristic, distinctly ’80s sound that hints at what was still to come. I actually enjoyed the second half of the album more—it feels like they loosen up and really let their sound breathe.

It made me feel warm listening to this record—like that Bayou heat. Such a great sound, an excellent album from ’69.

It gives me the feeling of a day somewhere sunny in England—I’ve never been, but that’s how I imagine it—full of parties, that kind of youthful joy, but also with moments of calm, maybe even a bit of reflection. I ended up discovering Blur songs I didn’t know before, and now I love them. I appreciate the album much more beyond just the hits; it’s not perfect, but it doesn’t need to be.

A grand, energetic album, richly layered instrumentally, with a concept that’s delivered beautifully.

I never knew I could enjoy country music this much. I had never heard K.D. Lang’s wonderful voice before, and I was truly impressed. The production feels absolutely massive, creating such a great atmosphere. I still can’t decide whether this is the perfect album for a quiet night or a lonely sunrise. I’ll definitely be listening to it many more time.

Fantastic album. I’d never heard this artist before, and I really enjoyed the blend of styles and the variety of songs, all infused with those African touches. It honestly feels like I can now imagine what a part of Africa sounds like
