As a piece, it's good. Starts off weak with Shout but then every other song is a 3 or 4. Lightly carried by Everybody Wants to Rule the World, but Mothers Talk and Head Over Heels
Really good musically, but the album compilation feels jarring in a few places.
Dont think theres a single song that I wouldn't put on by itself.
Album peeters out a little bit but also it has Superstition near the end which is a nice little boost
probably goes hard as a record in the background
I don't like the part where he says "I'm a little boy..." in Maybe Your Baby, I think that was too far
I think I'd give this a 5/5 if the ordering of songs was a little different to make it flow different
feels like i should be listening to this on a cold wet night while im on a warm bus looking out the window (pos)
OR like i should be drinking whiskey in a darkly lit room with this on a record player
I actually think this album is really well constructed, each song feels so different to another BUT it fits within the bounds of the album too?? and the placement of each song is also great
generally just a really relaxing album
girl get a grip
this album is well constructed and wholly inoffensive
not my kind of music and I don't think anyone should be writing this much about a man
I liked River Lea
well constructed, not sure if i'd listen to this again or listen to any songs individually, more likely to listen in full than separate
i think the drum parts and basslines are incredible, im less interested in the vocals and guitar
phenomenal late night drive soundtrack, good music for chilling out and havinf something on in the background - i would play this on vinyl while i hosted
composition is good and the ending song is strong so probably like 3.5/5 but i will round up
albums this old are so difficult because i know this was probably incredible when it came out but im suffering from recency bias
ready teddy is so good instrumentally but i dont feel like the lyrics are that good. vocally? his voice is great on all these songs but the lyrics are best when i ignore them and listen to his voice as another instrument
the songs in the backhalf are so samey.. it feels wrong but i think this is a 2/5
dont think hes saying anything. the production and music is great, i just dont really like his lyrics
i stopped tracking my thoughts on individual songs for this one bc i truly just dont think its worth it, mama said knock you out is good tho
i think i couldve gone without this one.
I'd give it a 1.5 but I think I'll round up to 2 I want to reserve 1/5 for actual dogshit
the wu-tang clan are staples of rap for a reason so i was excited to listen to this album
i think getting the LL Cool J album the day before elevates this one. their use of sampling things outside of music is so awesome im enamoured.
honestly i think the album is well constructed i like that method man is introduced in one song and continues on a few more
I think the length of this album (being short) really helps it. its short and sweet and leaves you wanting more a little. i plan on listening to the extended version after this.
Honestly, this is a 5/5 album it feels wrong to give it anything less
classic driving music, big fan of this albums sound (mainly bc it sounds like the stuff i like from this era)
honestly, the whole album is just good. its driving music which means i sometimes miss when the songs switch but i dont think thats a bad thing. the whole album is a good experience
my individual thoughts on each song werent very varied, i think honestly i wouldnt seek out these songs bc there are so many others like them but if they were on a playlist i'd really enjoy them
maybe the most 3/5 album yet (i'd give it a 3.5/5)
Not usually a fan of longer songs, but i think there's something special about a 4 song 45 minute album
I really like this album's sound, I don't think I'd put any songs from it on a playlist individually but I would listen to the whole album again
I actually liked this one a lot, I think its funky and I don't mind the songs being longer. I wouldn't say I HAD to listen to it before I died but it makes a walk home feel fun and exciting
I thought Life During Wartime would overshadow the other songs on this album but I was pleasantly surprised.
I think I would probably only listen to Life During Wartime outside of this album, but I still think this album is great
It;'s okay, pretty standard album that just blends together.
Decent album, obv I liked Waterfalls, but I think some of the other songs are strong too. Probably wouldn't listen that often but I could see myself putting this on in the background. Didn't like the interludes too much
First 4 songs sound the same, then it hits you with the pure dogshit that is "Dreamer". Supertramp found the brown note in 1974 and used it to create "Dreamer".
i really like debbie harry's vocals, i think she has a unique voice and her accent comes through in a charming way.
musically, i also think these songs are really strong. also crazy that we start with hanging on the telephone and then go into one way or another. it surprised me how many Hits were on this one album.
All in all, really good songs but just feels slightly disconnected, controversially for me... i think some of these songs could be longer.
eh. its alright
I liked this one. Bob Dylan has a pretty distinct style that comes through. I think a lot of the songs blended together so maybe that lowered my opinion of the album but I think it all sounded good. There was a vibe that was maintained and I appreciate that.
Honestly struggled to get through this one, its just kind of standard. I think I'd give this a 2.5 but I'm rounding down
