1001 Albums Summary

Worst lyric award on what is otherwise an almost perfect album goes to: "the doggone girl is mine". Baby Be Mine and the Lady In My Life are songs I don't think I hear anyone talk about now, but I think they are up there with MJ's best songs.

Not keen. Lots of different genres that sound to me like ska, rockabilly and a bit punk like. Saw someone online describe it as "pub rock" which I think is a spot on description.

How to ruin a good song: step 1) add the vocals of a screaming child.

The ubiquitous turn of the century British dance record -- so widespread that a lot of the music I have heard to death over the years in adverts, tv shows etc. to the point it annoys me a bit. Highlights include Fucking In Heaven and Acid 8000 -- two tracks I'd not heard before.

Chain of Fools is the stand out track here, but there were some others I really liked too such as Groovin' and (Sweet Sweet Baby) Since You've Been Gone.

Good to listen to if you want to get some work done. I appreciate it for what it is, but I'm unlikely to listen again.

Only knew Johnny Cash for Ring of Fire, but I was very interested in listening to more of his music. When I realised this album was performed live in a prison I was intrigued and decided to read more about him. Although I don't think the album was amazing, the back and forth between Cash and the audience was fun and it was piqued my interest about him and the rest of his catalogue.

Toe tapping...but not much else.
