Popular Reviews

Has quite possibly some of the most recognizable songs in rap/hip hop history. Peak Kanye on display in this album. It was all downhill from here

Nevermind by Nirvana

An album that shaped an entire generation is always going to be a banger

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Apr 08 2026

Easily one of the biggest bangers of the war-time film genre starts off this album. Large vibes of vietnam but also strangely reminds me of pennywise the clown from IT. It feels very old fashioned. Most songs are about the simple lives of people who simply just want to live, not just survive or go to war

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Apr 09 2026

This album is peak 80s. Reminds me of disco. Very "Music for the masses" disco. Feels like a somewhat generic "You spin me round" if it was an album. Strangelove was the song that got me to this point and it's only song 3/14. Half the songs are also just instrumental. Maybe because I'm listening at work I don't really see the main point here, but it felt more like background 80s elevator music that you'd hear before going to a disco skating rink or something?

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Apr 10 2026

Its fine I guess. As Barry B Benson has asked "You like Jazz?" And the answer is no. But La La Land is still dope.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Apr 13 2026

Peak elevator music. Still dont like jazz

Doolittle by Pixies
Apr 14 2026

Debaser just feels like a rant but he's really going for it in his lyrical shouting. I think he'd be really good on broadway. Makes me feel like Pixies were heavily inspired by David Bowie. As we get further down the album it feels a bit more hard rock than anything until we get to Here Comes Your Man which just reminds me of nothing but driving down to the beach with my family listening to classic rock radio. Also there's something about a dead monkey (pictured). It's alright. Not my favorite but not the worst thing 1001albums has thrown at me. Solid 3/5 IMO.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Apr 16 2026

Reminds me a lot of the songs from this era. Very "Rocky Horror just started showing + Some lou reid "Wild side" and it seems pretty chill? Kinda inspired by the stones of the time. Don't think I'll add this one to the rotation, but I'm not disappointed in the suggestion. Run Run Run was a huge shift from the previous. Wondering if this one is much more popular or not. This is the foundation of british rock/pop and I guess that makes sense.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Apr 21 2026

The first song is so long but Stevie Wonder is kinda worth it. Many song s sound a lot like street music you'd hear someone sing on sesame street to uplift and teach kids.

xx by The xx
Apr 22 2026

Has some bangers in here. Intro and crystalized mainly, but the others still fit the same vibe but don't throw quite as hard.

London Calling by The Clash
Apr 23 2026

While the album doesn't include THE the clash song we all know and love, it does have london calling as a banger first song. The album feels like it's some sort of revolutionary song and it's supported by the album art. It's giving greenday but more british than greenday.

Maverick A Strike by Finley Quaye
Apr 24 2026

I mean it's alright. Feels like an interesting mix of Reggae and Jazz, which I guess is fine. Just not really my groove. How this guy who has 90s hits still somehow has 350k monthly listeners on spotify makes sense. I could definitely see this being popular with a lot of crowds, I just am not really in them.

Nevermind by Nirvana

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 01 2026

Eh

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
May 06 2026

Songs too long. Got bored listening to them. Eh. German though which is kinda cool. No lyrics. Feels more like a jam sesh than anything. Would recommend to andrew, not really for me tho

OK by Talvin Singh
May 07 2026

Feels like something out of tron, dune, or cyberpunk. Kinda enjoyable but has a JK Rowling Dystopian vibe and I dont enjoy that much
