1001 Albums Summary

Before listening to this, I had never really heard a full Beatles record before. I was pleasantly surprised at how experimental they were. When I think of the Beatles, the sound of Revolution 9 and Helter Skelter do NOT come to mind. I also adored tender pieces like Blackbird and Martha My Dear. It feels like it has a little bit of everything, which I really enjoyed.

I’m definitely going to revisit this album but I had never listened to classic hip hop before this album! I love the themes that this album touches on a lot and I really want to analyze this later. Love the clever sampling and the lyricism.

beautiful. I think it’s about people coming to terms with being a cosmopolitan and becoming free from nationalism. I was a little wary that this was some form of orientalism but it seems pretty respectful. Very compelling narrative and I feel like I’m a better global citizen for it!

Duran Duran, I was unfamiliar with your game! So many fun times. I feel like I’m in an action movie!! So cool and fun. Love Rio, Last Chance of the Stairway, Lonely in Your Nightmare are standouts. Love this one

I’ve never felt as moved by an album as I did with this one, ever. Adele has such a powerful voice. She’s touching on emotions I have repressed in order to keep going. All I Ask, Million Years Ago, Hello, Send My Love, When We Were Young….all of these are incredible. I will be relistening to this again.

Fun. Makes me feel like a sleazy asshole. Vocals are crazy.

Aretha Franklin has a really moving voice. This album makes me feel like a woman.
