1001 Albums Summary

Electric guitar riffs go hard. Last half is full of classics. The groove is a given but the message and bobs lyrical melody are timeless.

Stereo mix is top notch - panning vocals, ocean and bar sounds on yellow sub, etc. never been a big Beatles fan. The greats are greatest of great, but the deep cuts lose me. Taxman was new to me, I was reminded how good Eleanor Rigby is, and how much I dislike yellow submarine. She Said soaring vocal opening is pure Beatles. Tomorrow Never Knows is best on the album and Ringos drums overcome and save it from the experimental chop notes.

Well know the hits; Benny, candle, Saturday night.

Nice simple melodies that resolve with complexity I did not expect. But ultimately just Beatles lite to me. I appreciate the spirit of My Sweet Lord but feels disingenuous use of “world religeons”. I appreciate the honest existential and introspective themes above love and life. Admittedly did not finish whole album.

Beats clearly influenced and built modern rap. Despite being new to me, sound was familiar. Egregiously violent but that’s the point and perspective.

True One is great. Rest is okay.
