3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Apr 27 2026

Loved the instrumentation on this album. Ernie Isley kills it on the guitar, and the ARP, Moog, and clavinet keyboards are killer too. Had some covers of songs I already love on the second side, and I really enjoyed hearing them interpreted in a new way.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Apr 28 2026

Smooth, classic G-Funk sound. Keeps you swaying back and forth like a low rider.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Apr 30 2026

Solid Southern-style folk rock. They really love that Hammond organ. All of the songs kind of bled together for me.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
May 01 2026

Incredible sound. Somehow, almost 50 years after its release, it still sounds like it's from the future. My one complaint is that some of the songs are a bit long.

The Clash by The Clash
May 04 2026

Pure punk action. More technical than the Ramones, more musical than the Sex Pistols. Only complaint is a lack of variation.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
May 05 2026

I don't usually listen to salsa, so this was a really nice glimpse into a whole world of music. There's a great variety of sound on this record, with hints of disco, rock, and other 'fusion' elements throughout. I didn't understand much of the lyrics (pity that I don't speak Spanish), but from what I could garner, there's a very strong sense of pan-Latin American unity, which I think is very inspiring and a strong force still today. Really nice!

Goo by Sonic Youth
May 06 2026

I like the use of noise up to an extent, like in 'Tunic' where I think it contributes to the vibe, but at certain points j think it just gets obnoxious, like the end of ‘Mote’. All the songs sort of blended together after a while for me. I respect the significance of the album and its influence, but it just feels sort of same-y - reeks of Gen X ‘acting detached to look cool’-ness.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
May 07 2026

I’m a house fan, but this album didn’t really stand out at all. Decent dancing music, but unremarkable.

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
May 08 2026

Completely average ‘pubs clearing out’ music. I think the spoken segments are fun, but I can see why people would get annoyed by them. Songs are very long.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
May 11 2026

Pretty decent jam band album. Gets pretty repetitive, but if it’s your kind of music, it’s good.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
May 12 2026

I'm biased because I already love a couple of the songs on this album, but man. The energy is incomparable. Smooth, cool, effortless. Main complaint is that some of the songs sound a bit too similar, but there's still a nice variety.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
May 14 2026

ELP have a lot of virtuoso technical prowess… and not much else.

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
May 15 2026

Was surprised by this one. Great variety of sounds, good composition and lyricism, an overall great time. Just didn't like some of the tracks towards the end.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
May 18 2026

Was honestly blown away by this album. Didn’t have any knowledge going in, and it was far better than what I expected.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 19 2026
May 20 2026

Nice variety of sound. Definitely wasn't what I was expecting - cool 70s rock, psychedelic, jazzy, peaceful, all kinds of moods. Gets a little self-indulgent at some points, but overall pretty nice.

OK by Talvin Singh

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
May 25 2026

really enjoyable show, especially considering the comedy of errors behind it. my first thought listening was 'this sounds like that one genre of solo piano music'; then as it went on, I realized that's because its the origin of that entire genre!
