1001 Albums Summary

Puppets and Kill 'Em All are my two favourite 'tallica albums. Takes me back to my days as a surly, wise-cracking teenager with all the answers, gleaming the cube and grinding rails on my supermarket pink skateboard with the skull stickers, and generally giving off "don't fuck with me vibes"* in suburban (and incredibly affluent) Johannesburg. Like all idiots of that generation, I discovered this album about 20 years after "The Black Album." More than that, thrash is the best music for concentrating on my incredibly responsible job as a dam safety engineer. Best track? Disposable Heroes. No, Leper Messiah! No, Orion!!! *(yeah, in my dreams)

Truly awful. Is it 22 individual, unique tracks or just the same godawful track repeated 22 times?

This should belong on a list of 1000 albums to hear before you die. Jamaica Jerk-Off is a cringe moment in an otherwise stellar record.

I love Radiohead but this album is too far towards the inaccessible.

I know this is supposed to be a legendary album, but it's a mixed bag for me. Four great tracks (Dreams, The Chain, Oh Daddy, and Gold Dust Woman) and then some seriously naff ones that derail the flow. It's as incoherent as this unfinished senten....

I can recognise genius when I hear it. Just don't ask me to describe why it is, in fact, genius. Wholly original, inventive, and skilfully arranged. Easily 5 stars.
