heard plenty of Ozzy work before, was always class but then again those were like his most popular songs. When listening to their early Black Sabbath work out of curiosity for that dark religious sound, didn't feel it was my thing. But I was quite surprised with the Vol4, the beautiful classic hard rock sound with the elements of band's signature dark vibe - it's not all that muffled and noisy as I'd imagined it would be. "Changes" which is legendary adds even more soul to the album and it's been quite an exiting ride. Not something I'd listen to everyday, but "Supernaut" and "Snowblind" is something I will return to! The instrumentals are great.
felt like a mix of preaching and music, not so much singing. It's not a bad thing though, it has character. "Underground spiritual" rhythms from the 70's - fun stuff. The African bits of the music make it even more so charming, it's been great to learn more about Yoruba music and Afrobeat through this album! Not quite a 4 for me tho, I'd say 3.5, leaning more towards 3
like some listeners on this platform noted, the album becomes slower towards the end, but oh wow it started off amazingly. I gotta say, jazz is not my genre, so I don't feel it's fair me judging it. I will do it anyway lol. As for a non-dedicated listener, I'd say it was good!
tis gud. honestly I am biased so at first I rated 5, but for me this is like 4/5. Purely a subjective thing
for some reason I never quite liked Beatles, though I really like 60-70's similar US music. From where I am from, Ukraine, and I was born during the times of independence from the Gulag land (aka soviet union), but my parents had to literally risk their lives to get a hold of foreign music. I have a couple of vinyl recordings of this album that I inherited, and they are the crappy soviet version ones, from the times when the ban on foreign music was majorly lifted and soviets were producing their own crappy records. What I realized is that I never actually fully listened to this album, though I heard all of them songs separately. And I gotta admit that I really liked the album, even not being a Beatle fun. It's a bunch of horny talented boys from 60's who were good with the romantic songs and catchy rhythms. I bet back in the day it was revolutionary. I found this to be vary nice and cute experience! p.s whoever commented with an amogus with giant pengus and a one start has got to chill lol
classic heavy metal, it's good but can be overwhelming!
not a big fan of all the muffled sound/ bad sound quality effect or whatever they had going on, some compositions get a bit tiring to listen to. Also after reading the other reviews I am shocked about Eric Clapton. For the music itself? Layla out of 5
tis gud, easy to listen to, nice vibes. Always loved Message in a Bottle
the music is touching, I really enjoyed Emmylou's voice, she sings lovely. Some songs made me teary-eyed! Definitely deserves recognition
at first wasn't expecting to like it, but as the album went on I felt hypnotized by the voice and the lyrics, and the music supports that nicely. I like this soft folk-psychedelic sound. I personally really enjoyed the following songs: Pleasant Street, Hallucinations, Phantasmagoria in Two
My first encounter with the author, looking forward for more!
oh my, album 11 on the list and this one was really tough going. I had to push myself to listen to them songs and I am afraid I just don't like the artist's voice / tone of his voice. Music itself while sounded SORTA fun at times felt messy and noisy. Some sound effects were really sore on the ear and I didn't find them necessary to be there at all. Can you even listen to this in headphones? I wouldn't say you need to listen to this before you die, but maybe someone really digs it and sorry to hurt your feelings lol
first time hearing this, very decent! found it enjoyable and quite fresh
there's lots of life and joy in this music!
nice soft rock. Totally subjective but I never quite liked the frontman's voice, and still I find the music really enjoyable.
Honorable menti`on: Wild Honey. monke
yeah it's really good. The Chain has always been one of my favs. Was my first time listening to the whole album so i discovered I Don't Wanna Know which is now in my playlist! The Chain is just this one of a kind songs, and the others, you know it, have this feel-good vibe. I am hesitating to say it's a 5, but definitely a solid 4/5
this has grown on me. Very melancholic, strong focus on the lyrics (English ain't my first language but you feel that in the music). You have to be in the right mood for this album, so if you're feeling bluesy - it's a perfect match. Nice mellow folk-rock sound, good singers' voices. Just maybe don't give it a listen on a beach day, will be odd
stunning. Calm, dreamy, bluesy. I loved this. Even worked for me on a hot summer day like today, while hiding from the heat in a shade of the office. Really glad this album is on the list, what a great discovery.
monke see monke do. On the side note, not relevant to my feeling towards the music, the album cover always bothered me a lot. Somebody cover him up! But hey, can we see his penis now?
this music is scary, haunting. I kept imagining being stuck in a maze of some PS1 video game. My only beam of sunlight was imagining an addition of Mike Shinoda rapping over some of these tracks. I love you Mike Shinoda. I didn't love this album. Well, not quite. Turns out, it gets more "positive" towards the middle of the album. That is if you are brave enough to listen in. Mike's lyrics would get stronger there ohh yesss. But then you have this track with women counting. Oh no. Awful lot of counting.
David Bowie is considered a music genius, but this is absolutely beyond me. Some of my best friends are big fans and I could never get into his music. I like 3 songs from this album - The Next Day, The Stars (Are Out Tonight), (You will) Set the World on Fire
obvious talent, but the music is just not for me
not a jazz fan, and this album, all but the last composition which sounded more like a song, was this random array of nice sounding instruments. Felt like a warm-up sesh rather than a thought-through performance.
this is SO MUCH FUN. Brilliantly arranged chaotic rock, fascinating psychotic vibe. Captured me whole from the beginning till the end and entertained the fuck out of me haha. I will be listening to the whole album again. Love it. Brilliant.
nice chill trip-hop sesh
it is smooth, bit whiney, nothing really caught my attention besides the famous Son of a Preacher Man
I did like the flute, but the songs are just tedious to listen to. Maybe I'd enjoy them more FULLY without the lyrics. I mean what are those themes and lyrics? They were totally turning me off. I tried giving this album a go 3 times. Re-listened from the beginning cause I wasn't quite getting why I don't like it that much. Just very unappealing to me. Something is just grossing me out in this album. It must be the lyrics and the singer's creepy giggles at the end of some verses. Why? 2 starts for the decent instrumentals but realistically the whole experience is 1-star
like many people commented, this would be appropriate at some medieval festival, blackjack tournament or in some goddamn pub but i wouldn't listen to this on my own volition. This album makes me want not to go to England ever
дуже файне емоційне кантрі. Мені почало реально заходити десь з середини альбому. Може було б 5/5 для мене якби не пісні, як не іронічно, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road та Concrete and Barbed Wire.
Найбільше сподобались наступні треки: Lake Charles, Can't Let Go, I Lost It, Joy, Jackson, останній так взагалі класний.
