The Band by The Band

Solid album, couple of classics. First half was kinda samey but there was some variety in the back half. Could be a fun cookout / campfire type album. 3/5

Celebrity Skin by Hole

Solid alt rock album, fun, good vocals and instrumentals. Would listen again. 4/5

Very good album. Strong melodic start with compelling instrumentals in Brighton Rock. Killer Queen is obviously a classic among classics. Another highlight is also Stone Cold Crazy. The driving vocals draw you in and get you into the mood. I think the back half of the album is a bit weaker. I didn't really love In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited on the first listen. 4/5

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jun 09 2026

Fun album, but samey and somewhat ephemeral. I like some of the hits from Talking Heads like Psycho Killer but as an album found it lacking. The vocals don't do much for me, the instrumentals aren't particularly challenging or interesting. It's an easy listen but also won't stick in the hippocampus. 3/5

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Jun 10 2026

I enjoyed the ethereal dreamscapes in this album. However, it feels like you need to listen to it a bunch to really appreciate it, and the first playthrough was just fine. 3.5/5

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jun 11 2026

Great album. Packed with classics, starts strong, good variety but strong identity. A worthy inclusion. 4.5/5

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jun 13 2026

The album was alright, couple of classic rock hits. Some surf influence was fun. Didn't do much for me overall though. 3/5-

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Jun 15 2026

The Weight is a classic, and overall I enjoyed this more than the other The Band album in this project. 3.5/5

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Jun 16 2026

I like the Foo Fighters for like, two songs but then they just sound so similar. And this album lacks a bunch of the crowdpleasers from their later stuff. It's a fine album, but that's all for me. 3/5

No Other by Gene Clark
Jun 22 2026

I didn't find the instrumentals all that compelling or memorable. The lyrics were quite poetic often and really contributed to setting the scenes of the tracks. I won't likely be hearing this album again but it was pleasant enough. 3/5

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 23 2026

RHCP hasn't aged super well for me. The funky bass lines are enjoyable but the lyricism and song structures are a miss for me now. 3/5

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jun 24 2026

When I saw this come up I smiled. I remember listening to this on a CD in the early 00s. I've loved Metallica and metal ever since so this is a slam dunk. Its not the best produced (drum sound always a contentious subject) and they may not be the greatest band of all time, but this is a great album through and through and I'm always happy to listen through it. 5/5

Odelay by Beck
Jun 25 2026

I hadn't really listened to Beck before and the front half of this album was a blast. I really felt connected to the musicality, even with the simple beats. Normally this kind of stuff would be a whatever but there's some special sauce that elevates this. 4/5

Not my genre. Seems well produced enough. Songs feel so samey though. Does he need to announce his name every song? Are they not distinct enough on their own? Whatever/5 (2.5)

Music From The Penguin Cafe by Penguin Cafe Orchestra

3.5 it was interesting and different. I liked the first two tracks a lot.

Different Class by Pulp

This album was interesting, and reminded me of art class when we did collages of magazine and newspaper clippings. 3/5 with a heart
