Overall 3.75/5: What stood out about this album was an interesting pallete of sounds. There were some really nice bass lines and guitar grooves in some of the songs. There were some very catch choruses I really enjoyed. The singing style is not my favorite and sometimes the melodies/chord progressions were a bit boring and repetitive for my taste. I Wanna Be Adored 4/5: cool atmospehric start, relaxing full sound, very 80 sounding with punch snare, 3:08 it is nice how it changes up a bit. A little repetitive with saying "I Wanna Be Adored" She Bangs The Drums 3.5/5: Nice bass line, nice harmonies in chorus, cool instrmental break, the singing style is not my favotite, reminds me of "I'll Be There for You" (Friends theme I think) Waterfall 3.2/5: cool sound to start song, she's a waterfall is a good hook, but the song doesn't seem to be going anywhere super interesting so far, nice instrumental at end Don't Stop 3.5/5: The warpy instrument being used is interesting, really long intro, really cool sounds right before lyrics start, the vocals seem to be overpowered a bit to me, most experimental song so far. Maybe not my style but I like that it is different Bye Bye Bad Man 3.5/10: Kinda sounds like the Beatles, classic minor 4 sound, like the bye bye bad man hook, nice guitar sound, I like how the drums switch up, builds up well Elizabeth My Dear 4/5: Beatiful and simple but why so short? (Song for My) Sugar Spun Sister 3/5: Not a huge fan of the guitar rif at beginning, very repitive, 0:46 gets better when chords change, the second verse I like a bit more, 3:00 I like that riff Made of Stone 4/5: Like the moody guitar riff, just an alright melody, I wish it went more places in verse, good catch chorus, I just like harmonic minor 5 chord. I am alredy wanting to sing the chorus, favorite chorus so far. Shoot you Down 3/5: Like that is starts out with the bass riff, 0:53 nice when it just singing. Overall though, a little boring. I wish it changed up more the second verse and chorus to keep my interest. Good guitar riffs. My least favorite so far This is the One 3.7/5: Big intro and than calm bass line is cool idea, interesting bass line, great start, chill first verse but I hope it builds. 2:08 starting to build up, nice harmonies. I wish the chords would change up a bit more or the melody change up to go somewhere different. Repetitive for the length of the song I Am Ressurection 4/5: Like the drum into, this is a long one so wondering where it will go. 0:42 nice riff into prechorus. Good buildup. I like the insturmental part. I am glad it is not just a long guitar solo. There are some nice parts where the energy goes up and down. I think it could be about a minute shorter because I got a little bored at the end. Fools Gold 2.75/5: Groovy drums and bass line to start. The melody is a bit boring. The instrumenation does not change much and I love funk music with repeated grooves but this song is way too long for how repetitive is it for my taste. The guitar solo was good but should have come earlier. Great drumming. The end is really cool though with the added sounds.

Overall 4/5: The Beatles have so many unique songs, and I get why they are covered so much. I think I regonized about a third of the songs before listening to this whole album. My first impression of this album was there was a TON of experimentation going on which I appreciate. Some of it I enjoyed and some of it I did not. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the Beatles singing, but the chord progressions, melodies, song structure, and rhytmn are so unique for some of these songs. This seems like an album where you impression might change after multiple listens because there is a lot to take in. Taxman 3.5/5: interesting use of stereo, cool bass and guitar riff and the drums fit well. The song was not as interesting as other Beatles songs for me though Eleanor Rigby 5/5: Classic, already familiar with this one, the Cody Fry version of this song is great I'm Only Sleeping 4.5/5: great harmonies and melody, interesting reverse guitar, interesting chord change in middle of song Love You Too 3.5/5: Like the sitar and Indian instruments, the melody was not interesting to me though, unique for a rock band which I can appreciate Here There and Everywhere 5/5: I am familiar with this one. This song goes so many places for the length, unique chord progression which is what makes the beatles music intersting for me. Yellow Submarine 4.5/5: Familiar with this one. I know people clown on this song sometimes because it is kinda stupid. It agree it is kinda stupid but to me it's funny and charming. She Said She Said 2.5/5: There is a lot going on here, but not really for me. The guitar tone is pretty unique and there are some interesting rhythmic elements here. Good Day Sunshine 3.3/5: It is a fun upbeat song that makes you want to bop your head. The piano is very low which is interesting and I like the piano solo. The modulation at the end caught my attention And Your Bird Can Sing 3/5: I like the harmonies guitar riff, and nice classic line cliche. I didn't dislike anything about this song, but nothing really caught my attention like some of the other songs For No One: 3.5/5 Classic ballad sounding but there was one chord in there that suprised me which I liked. Doctor Robert 2/5: I like the middle part, but the amount of times I heard Doctor Robert got kinda annoying and repetitive. I Want To Tell You 3/5: Cool sounding intro. I love the dissonant piano parts, very jazzy. Nice middle section to mix things up. Got To Get You Into My Life 4.5/5: Familiar with this song and the chorus is very catch and I love the brass parts and lead up to the chorus. I have to say the Earth Wind & Fire version of this song is so much better (but I am bias because that is my favorite band) Tommorow Never Knows 2/5: All the background sounds caught my ear hear. I don't even know what was going on at the 1 minute mark. I can't say I enjoyed listening to this my first time around but I appreciate expermentation. That was almost too much to take in for my first listen.
3.25/5 When I first saw the cover, my expecations were very different that what I heard. Dusty Springfield has a beautiful soulful and emotive voice. I knew nothing about her before, so I did not expect a soul album. Personally, I got a little board in the middle section of the album because the songs felt predictable and nothing I haven't heard from this type of music. I've heard "Son Of A Preacher" man and that song is a highlight on the album. Just a Little Lovin' is a nice first track. The standout track for me was "The Windmills of Your Mind" becuase it felt so different from the rest of the songs and had some intresting instrumentation and is a beatiful song. I learned that this song was a cover but still love this version. "In The Land of Make Believe" was also a song I really liked. The title alone is intruiging and the groove in this song is really nice.
Overall 5/5: I liked this album more than I thought I would. The album cover definitely portrays the dark, strange, and uneasy feelings of these songs. At the same time this album is really beautiful and has so many unique sounds, production, lyrics, and harmonies. Surfs Up and Surfin USA couldn’t be any different. Don’t Go Near The Water 3.75/5: interesting sounds give uneasy feeling, the piano part is interesting to start and end the song. Nice harmony at end. The Long Promised Road 4/5: I like the middle section and the overall melody. Songs builds well. Take a Load of Your Feet 3.5/5 : weird but cool vocal delay and background vocals. Fun background sounds Disney Girls 4.8/5: Funny song title, but overall a nice ballad with amazing harmonies. I’ll listen to this one again for sure! Student Demonstration Time: 4/5 Another memorable title, interesting unique topic for a song. I like the use of alarm/police sounds. Other than that, just a solid blues song Feel Flows 4.5/5: Song gives me an easy feeling, the flute part was cool and there were so many interesting sounds. Definitely an experimental song but didn’t feel like too much. Lookin at Tomorrow (Welfare Song) 3/5: fits the vibe for a song called welfare song Day in The Life of a Tree 4.8/5: what a weird concept for a song. I love it! I’m envisioning the tree as I hear the song. Til I Die 4/5: now we are a cork in the ocean lol. I’m usually not a person to pay attention to lyrics but these got my attention. There’s so many layers of sound that sounds so full Surfs Up 3.5/5: Really interesting melody, I have no clue what this songs about after a first listen.
1/5 I hated it… the song had no interesting melodies and consisted of an annoying whiney depressed British man who clearly needs help. The drum patterns all sounded similar and didn’t change throughout the song. They also got very annoying to me. The chord progressions or bass lines were never all that interesting and there was always a moody synth. Seriously, what is the appeal of this album? One Hundred Years 2.25/5: song has an interesting dark mood, very repetitive I wish the song went somewhere else A Short Term Effect 2.5/5 : interesting eerie sounds again but pretty boring, the vocal delay effect was interesting. I find this singing annoying. The drums beat gets old. The tempo shift was cool. The Hanging Garden 1.5/5 : cool drum pattern and into, but god I hate the singing. Once again, the song doesn’t develop and gets very boring fast. Siamese Twins 0.5/5: incredibly boring bass line and drum. I didn’t think the album would get worse but it did. Depressing lyrics again, what a surprise. Ughhhhhhhh. The song ends with “is it always like this”. That’s how I feel about the album. Is it always repetitive, whiny, and boring like this in the album. The Figurehead 1/5 : more of the same boring shit. I genuinely don’t understand how people enjoy this music. I guess if you are depressed. The instrumental part where the guitars change up a bit is the only reason I like this song more than the previous A Strange Day 0.8/1: the synths to start the song were cool and the same boring familiar formula starts again, a repeating drum loop and some minor chords with a moody synth and an annoying whiney British dude talking about how he’s sad Cold 1.5/5: I liked the cello sounding instrument, finally something sounds a bit different. But this is really pissing me off this is considered a top 1000 album. None of these songs have any sort of development. Pornography 1.25/5 : glad to be done with the album almost… interesting buildup at the beginning of the song with all those voices in the background. But wait this is the whole song and it develops into nothing.
5/5 Aretha Franklin is one the greatest (if not the greatest) singers in all of western recorded music. Her voice has so much emotion, feel, and power in this album which is accompanied by some great danceable bass lines and a great horn section. Chain of Fools and You make me feel like a natural woman are amazing songs and I see why they are hits. Ain’t know way was another song I really enjoyed I have never heard before.
3/5 I almost rated this a four, but ultimately this album is not the type of music I typically enjoy. This is defintely a "raw" album with some interesting rhytmic ideas and intersting guitar tones. I enjoyed the driving bass and drum fills (even though I got a little bored at some points). This album has a lot of catchy hooks as well and I appreciate the experimenation. Bone Machine 3/5: Some weird lyrics, "Are love is rice and beans and horses lard" A decent song with a simple driving bass line and chord progression Break My Body 3.5/5: This song is a little dissonant at times which I like. The melody and guitar together clash a bit which makes sense for the song. Something Against You 3.25/5: Intresting intremental tracks with some weird shouting in the background that are cool. The drum fills are really good Broken Face 3.25/5: The broken face hook is kinda funny and catchy, quick fun song Gigantic 3.75/5: This song has a catchy hook and I like how the verse is more chill and builds to the chorus. I think the end of the song could have been cut short, the same thing is just being repeated over and over again with no variation River Euphrates 3.75/5: Cool echoey guitars to this song. The bass lines are starting to get boring in this album I wish they were more varied. Intersting time signature Where Is My Mind 4.5/5: Very famous song, the guitar riff is so memorable Cactus 3.5/5: Very interesting rhythm, the time signautre unexpectedly changed, not too much else going on though Tony's Theme 2.5/5: The vocals were different.... kind of an annoying song, but when Tony is shouted it is catchy I can't lie. Oh My Golly! 3/5: This song has great drum fills and fun fast guitar strumming, but nothing too different from the rest of the album. The end of the song was pretty funny Vamos (Surfa Rosa) 3.5/5: It is interesting how the tempo changes in this song, creates an interesting feeling especially with all those intereseting guitar tones. Not exactly sure the meaning of this song... I'm Amazed 2/5: I am really not sure what the point of this song is... it was interesting how the conversation transitioned into the song Brick Is Red 3/5: Pretty cool riff and I like the pauses in this song. Not really a fan of the guitar tone.
4/5: Glad I discovered something completley new. I love the fusion of electornic music and classical tango music. The production on this record is amazing and I love the drum sounds. I love the Bandoneón, string, and piano solos. It makes the album sound very jazzy. I did start to get a little bored at the end because this album doesn't have much variation and some of the songs get a little repetitive. NOTE: It pisses me off that people call this music "elevator music" (same goes for bossa nova music and jazz). Sure this music might be chill and can get repetitive, but when people say it is elevator music, to me it sounds like they are writing it off because the music is not for them. I generally don't enjoy grunge and punk music because the song stucture, instrumenation, and chord progression are very basic, but I try to appreciate the music and understand why people like it. Queremos paz 4.25/5: production sounds really good, nice bass line and drum beat. Bandoneón (accordian like instrument) hook was really nice. I had to look up what the instrument was and glad I learned something new Epoca 4.5/5: Cool string sounds and it is interesing how the string cuts off, very classical sounding singing with modern production is cool. Chunga's Revenge 4.5/5: The drum sounds are so crisp! Nice bassline and cool affects being used on the Bandoneón. Nice violen solo and jazzy piano chords. Triptico 3.75/5: Cool synth sound in background, sounds like a house loop. This beat is not as captivating as the previous songs. 2:40 (the drums are very satsiyfing to listen to here). I like how the song picks up towards the middle and than takes is way down. Song felt a little too long for the amount of content it had Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre) 4/5: sounds like there is a cricket or bird incorporated in the beat which is cool. When the bass and drums all come in, the beat really me want to bob my head. Nice Bandoneón solo Una Musica Brutal 3.75/5: Feels upbeat and sad at the same time. The hook where multiple chords are played quickly on the Bandoneón is nice. El Capitalismo Foraneo 3.5/5: Is the dog barking capitalism because that is how I interpreted it lol. I like the use of delay in the song. Maybe it is because it is later in the album, but I was not intereseted in this song. Last Tango In Paris 4/5: Love the acoustic piano with very produced sounding bass and drums. Pretty melody La Del Ruso 3.75/5: Cool dissonant piano and pleasant guitar sound. At this point in the album I am ready to listen to something different tbh. I like the "wshh" sound. 4:30 like the change in rhytmn and piano solo. Vuevlo Al Sur: 3.5/5: Nice chill vibe to end the album
3/5 This was my first time ever listening to nine inch nails, and I liked listening to the album (but did not love it). I appreciate that this album has a lot of dynamic range, and it makes the loud moments of extreme anger and angst really hit hard. Closer was the most memorable song for me especially for the lyrics. I also liked Hersey and Reptile and saved them as liked songs. This album had too much distortion and whispery vocals for my taste and I wasn't always a fan about how the songs were mixed.
5/5 Such a great 70's rock album. I love how this album is produced, the guitars sound so crisp and driving. The vocals and harmony are great and there are so many memorable and iconic guitar riffs. I love the extended instrumental parts of this album. More Than A Feeling and Foreplay/Long Time are my favorite tracks, but I don't think this album has a bad track. More Than A Feeling 5/5: I have heard this song so many times but I still enjoy listening to it. The guitar tone sounds so good and has such a memorable riff. The whole production on this song is excellent. Great catchy melody and the build up and release after the chorus are great. Peace of Mind 4.6/5: I have heard this one so many times as well. I love the harmonies in the chorus and once again the guitar riffs are great. Foreplay/LongTime 4.8/5: The organ arpeggios, guitar riffs, bass line, and drums sound so epic together. It hits so hard when the guitar starts riffing and the vocals come in. The acoustic guitar sounds so crisp Rock and Roll Band 4/5: A solid simple rock and roll song just like the title suggests. Smokin' 4.5/5: A great bass line with and driving riff. Catchy hook. I love organ solos. Hitch a Ride 4.2/5: A nice chill beginning to the song and more organ so I am happy. A very boston sounding guitar riff. It is cool there are so many exteneded instrumental parts in this album Something About You 4/5: I like the "something about you" hook in the song and the background vocals. Let Me Take You Home Tonight 4.4/5: Very interesting rhytmn at the start/riff of the song
3/5: This album sounded like Walmart Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to me with a little more experimenation. There were some interesting chords and sounds for some of the songs, but there weren't any songs that I thought were amazing or really caught me ear. The songs all felt very solid though, and there was never a point where this felt like top 1000 album material. I read some of the positive reviews and if this album inspired a lot of different musicians from different genres than that is understandable. "Why Would You Wanna Live" was probably my favorite track. I might give this a second listen at some point and change my mind.
3/5 Interesting blend of rap and rock and roll. The lyricism or flow wasn’t anything special but I enjoyed listening to it. I liked “The Fun Lovin’ Criminal” the most. I almost gave this a 4 star but the two tracks without rap that were singing I really didn’t like.
4/5 This album sounds so British, but I really enjoyed it. There was a lot of interesting experimentation. Animal Farm and Sitting by The Riverside were my favorite songs. I really disliked "All of my Friends were There" because of the vocals. There were some interesting chord progressions here and the lyrics about farms, nature, and what not were cool
5/5: It is amazing how many hits are in this one album. My hot take is that Fleewood Mac is slightly overrated because there songs don't feel super innovative or unique, BUT this is easily a five star album. These songs are very simple in their structure and chord progressions but all of the parts work very well together. None of the parts are doing too much, but they remain intereresting enough where I never got bored listening to this album (even though I have listened to this album before and heard some of these songs countless times). My favorite song on this is Never Going Back Again and that is one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time. You Make Loving Fun is another great song and I love the clavi riff. It is also interesting Silver Springs did NOT make the orginal album but is now viral on Tik Tok.
3/5 I don't really get the hype for this album. This is considered one the best albums of all time, but to me it just seems like a pretty good blues album. Most of the songs have a pretty basic structure, chord progression, and melody and lyrics aren't bad but don't seem incredible. I really enjoyed the brass and choral sections of some of these songs and there were some good guitar riffs, guitar tones, and drum fills, but nothing that made me go, "wow this album is incredible". Ventilator Blues was my favorite song. I also really hate "Sweet Black Angel", and even though it had good intentions the lyrics are trashy as hell. Rocks Off 4/5: A solid blues rock song, I like the horn section. The middle "hyponitized" section is cool and a nice way to change up the song. Rip This Joint 3.75/5: I like the blues piano in the background and the topic of the song is fun. Shake Your Hips 3/5: Almost sounds like ZZ Top got this riff from the Stones, but after doing some research sounds like the Rolling Stones also got this riff from John Lee Hooker. Pretty boring song other than the catchy riff. Casino Boogie 3.25/5: A pretty typical blues song with some crytpic sounding lyrics. A fine instrumental part at the end. Tumbling Dice 3.5/5: I like the background vocals. "Call me the tumbling dice" is a cool hook. Sweet Virginia 3/5: The guitar riff and harmonica are nice at the beginning but this song gets kinda boring for me. The melody is kinda interesting but not a fan of the chorus, the vocals just sound alright. Torn and Frayed 3.5/5: The melody is repetitive but the instrumenation is good (especially the guitar tone and guitar solo) Sweet Black Angel 1/5: Musically, the song is fine but honestly pretty boring. And the lyrics... aged like milk. I get this is supposed to be for Angela Davis, but the are you a kidding me? "She's a sweet blank angel, no a sweet black slave" ew. Loving Cup 3.75/5: I like the drum fills and the interesting middle section. Started out pretty boring but builds nicely. Great horn section at the end of the song. Happy 3.25/5: It's fine but not very memorable Turd On The Run 3/5: Funny song title and the guitar riff has a nice rhytmn but doesn't really go anywhere after that. Ventilator Blues 4.25/5: Cool sliding guitar riff (with an interesting tone) and a pretty funky beat. Favorite song so far and glad it varies from the other songs. I Just Want To See His Face 3/5: I thought the song was just gonna start the way it did, but it had the weird effect the whole time. Seems like a filler song to me. Let It Loose 4/5: Cool guitar tone and some nice piano riffs. A lot of interesting instrument tracked at the end At this point I got tired of rating each song. Soul Survivor 4.25/5: I did really like this song as the last song. Cool chord progrssion and great chorus.
4/5: This album has some very interseting lyrical imagery and the guitar and strings act as a nice canvas for all the lyrics to be delivered. Avalanche was my favorite song and Dress Rehersal Rag was the most interesting musically even though it was very weird. I am not always a fan of singer songwriter music like this, but this one was really interesting because of the lyrics. The repeating guitar chords with little intsrumentation got a bit boring at times, but I think the album was paced pretty well and didn't overstay its welcome Avalanche 4.5/5: Beatiful guitar and crescendo intro, simple song structure but the song is very emotional and the vocals sound very emotive. The instrumental string sections are a nice way to bridge the verses. Last Year's Man: 3.75/5 interesting lyrics paint a descrptive picture but are also crptic, guitar and strings are pleasant. The kids singing at the end kinda threw me off. Dress Reheasal Rag 3.5/5: The concept of talking to your self in the mirror is interesting (at least that is how I interepted it lol). Not a huge fan of the simple guitar strumming. It is cool the lyrics ended with Dress Rehearesal Rag Diamonds in the Mine 3.75/5: The vocal delivery is kinda crazy but unique (almost sounds like a psycho). Sounds epecially crazy with the woman background vocals. The bass line and guitar riff are cool. Love Calls By Your Name 3.25/5: The guitar riff sounds too similar to Avalanche to me to be a seperate song, so I was a little bored by the instrumentation. Some intereseting imagery in the song and the title of the song is a nice hook. I like the lines when he says "between the..." Famous Blue Raincoat 3.75/5: Interesting title, the wind chimes are nice background sounds. The chorus melody is nice. Intersesting concept about Leonard Cohen addressing the letter and writing about an afair Sing Another Song Boys 3/5: Cohen really likes talking about fingernails. More interesting imagery in this song about a relationship that went bad. All of the "la la las" at the end of the song got annoying. Joan of Arc: The backgroud vocal that sounds like a delay almost is interesting Interesting that the fire is talking to Joan of Arc. Not a huge fan of all the "la la las" again in the chorus.
2/5: For an album with 20 songs, I wish there was more variety. I really wanted ot stop listening to his album after the first 10 songs because there was little sonic variety. "Ice Cold Ice" was my favorite song and the riff caught my ear. The album felt a little sloppy at points when it came to all the intruments being in sync and the production felt ok. The singers voice is not my favorite (not terrible, but not super enjoyable to listen to).
3.5/5 (but I'll round up to four): There were a lot of funk elements to this album which I liked and a bunch of danceable songs. The album was pretty varied and used some interesting sounds from different styles of music. Sometimes I was not a fan of the sounds or vocals but it is cool how they used different vocalists. Other than Same Old Show and Yo Yo Yo, I enjoyed the songs and especially liked Jump N' Shout and Red Alert. Some of the creative choices I did not like but either way there were interesting to listen to. Rendez Vu 4/5: Cool how the acoustic guitar and electronic elements are mixed, satsying beat drop. Weird robot vocals. Second drop is even cooler Yo Yo 2.75/5: Nice dance beat with funky bassline, the yo yo yo part is kinda cringe though and runied the song for me, the random sounds are kinda cool adds variety Jump N' Shout 4.25/5: I have no clue what the dude is saying but I like his delivery. This beat is the most danceable so far. The jump and shout hook is good and cool rhytmns in the song U Can't Stop Me 3.75/5: Intruiging intro, it is cool they have different vocalists. I like the bass 808 sounding riff in the chorus. That sound also sounds very satisying. Jaxxalude: idk, its an interlude with a funny name Red Alert: 4.5/5 The pauses were unexpected of complete silence but a cool affect. It gets funky as hell, I love the bassline. Honestly just a bop Jazzalude: Cool jazzy loop and I wish it went on longer into a full song Always Be There 3/5: Intro is a little long for my taste, not a fan of this beat as much of the other songs, but cooly echo vocal effects. Got a bit bored during this song Sneakalude: Nice Same Old Show 1.5/5: really not a fan of the moaning noise and it just keeps repeating, also not a huge fan of the lil john sounding scream. Mostly the same loop the whole time that I didn't really like. Bingo Bango: 3.5/5 I like the brass sounds and cuban sounding piano with the electronic drums and bass. The bing bing bango line is kinda annoying. Build up to the end of the song is nice Gemilude: cool Stop 4 Love 3.75/5: A more chill laid back track with some relaxing synths and strings but than some other interesting noises come in later. The violin on the later part of the track is an interesting addition. Don't Give Up 3/5: Weird vocals, almost sounds like dubstep to me (idk much about electronic music though) Gets a little boring though but surprising ending with piano I really liked Being With You 3.5/5: Nice synth loop, the vocalist has a relaxing voice
