Illmatic by Nas
Jun 18 2026

Really great. The kind of rap album I didn't know I wanted. A little blown away at how many moments are sampled from this but I suppose that's what this journey is for. Would happily listen to this again on repeat

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jun 19 2026

Decent. A couple of nice tunes but mostly forgettable for me. An enjoyable rock/country hybrid with interesting subject matter for sure but I just don't think something that gelled with me personally. Doesn't at all degrade any other Jack White or White Stripes work, just not a favourite by any stretch.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Jun 21 2026

Brilliant. Forward thinking, great spread of genre and loved that it leaned in a few directions without really sticking to any one flavour or space. I know everyone praises Radiohead for pushing boundaries and I've been hesitant to dive deep until now. This was decisive proof of the value of their contribution to music for me.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Jun 22 2026

Great album, hard to objectively rate as it so clearly formed the basis of so much music I listen to. SRV, JM and others scaffolding off of JH makes this album sound familiar in a brilliant way, need to be careful to treat this as an early walker when listening. Can't deny the voice and soul of JH with the grit of an old album.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jun 23 2026

Enjoyed. Much more influential than I realised. I could hear crooked vultures, Alice in chains, QOTSA in everything. Way more diverse than I realised. Ironic that a band that challenged the nature fame and musical popularity is still so objectively framed by charts and ultimately pigeonholed into a defined sound with so many left field tunes that absolutely fuck sitting on their albums. I’m late to every party so far. I know

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Jun 24 2026

Challenging to finish but that's a personal problem. I can appreciate the value of the album. The harmonised and chorussed vocals are really wicked, super tight production and probably stand out for its time. The consistency of theme and vibe across a range of different styles and genres by using consistent instrumentation is clever but it didn't stop the album from sounding same same. Just really not me at all.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Jun 25 2026

Really enjoyed. Beautiful album for 1972 as well. I didn’t realise that style of indie was from as long ago as that. Gorgeous flow of an album, incredible lyricism. Incredible to settle into

Suicide by Suicide
Jun 28 2026

I see the value in it. Melodically fascinating and I enjoyed the dynamic structuring of the tunes.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jun 30 2026

Paolo Nutini got his pipes from here! Loved the diversity

Jul 03 2026

Bit of The Who, bit of Sabbath, bit of Jethro Tull. Not bad, covers a wide range. Counting Out Time is Phil Collins’ Maxwells Silver Hammer in the worst way possible. That desperately needed a veto by their manager

Jul 06 2026

Unbelievable. Genre diverse, an amazing project that feels like it was driven by an interest in experimenting rather than commercial success. Nuts that they can obliterate any style they touch. Critical album
