1001 Albums Summary

i have a memory of listening to sultans of swing with my pops so i was excited for dire straits to be my first album of this project!!! this is a crazy debut album. very pleasant listening experience, especially for the fleetwood mac enjoyers.

this was great, like genuinely no skips. but, i don’t know if that’s because a few songs in particular are quite strong and the others seem really similar. it’s like copying someone’s homework but changing it slightly so you don’t get caught. i played a few tracks in the shower and listening passively made me realise i didn’t know which song was which.

this is i suppose objectively good but i’m a little disappointed honestly. this is a good friend of mine’s favourite band so my expectations were quite high but i just found this to be .. OK. ‘take it as it comes’ and ‘the end’ (though i felt it could’ve been 4 minutes shorter) stood out to me but aside from that this album didn’t invoke much feeling in me. probably wouldn’t listen again on purpose.

intoxicating and robust! still trying to develop my skills in music criticism so i’m still learning to differentiate between repetitive and cohesive… but alas i don’t mind. i could listen to this all day. another win for jazz and afrobeats!

SO fucking good. floors me every time. a ZERO skip album. videotape remains one of the most moving pieces of music (to me) i’ve ever heard
