My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello

Okay this ones gonna be harsh. I didn't enjoy listening to this but I didn't HATE this either- it was honestly just a little boring. I did like the last song on the album tho (not because it was the end). If I could compare the listening experience of this album to anything else then it would be this: Imagine sitting in a night club in LA during the daytime/ early evening. Or similarly a dead asf bar in the dead of night on the edge of town. And this band is playing enthusiastically in the background but you're having the shittiest day of your life. And it all sounds a little repetitive but not enough to be blaringly obvious to you; each song just sounds a little familiar and it's progressively pissing you off the more you sit with your drink and shity day on your mind. Oh! Also it's the 70s so there are some people in these bars who LOVE this and that seems to piss you off as well. It's not the music that's bad, it's your day- but the music is not helping. So that's my view. So yeah... appologies to people who like this kind of music and Elvis Costello (sorry dude ur probably just a chill guy who is pretty cool). But not my ting i don't think. Also the album cover looks like a character from a David Lynch film.

I feel like I would listen to this on a stereotypical American road trip. Like the beginning of these songs would work great in an old slightly busted up pick up truck. Or it would be used as a band that features in a TV series, where the episode works as normal until they get like a 3 minute performance feature. I am SO convinced I would have heard this on Gilmore Girls. I don't mind it! The lead singer, definitely LEADS i'll say that. Michael Stipe his name is (I just looked it up). Very distinctive. The most popular song on this album - I feel like I am trying to convince myself that I like it rn; it's a little annoying. They love to repeat a lyric hahaha but I think that as the album progresses there are some new and more intriguing beats in the background. I am enjoying it.

Yur i loved that! Listened on beach - litch perfect album Makes me want to listen to more Little Simz honestly so I am gonna do that!

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra

Yes, Imediately I feel like I am in one of those romcom musical films from the 1950/60s. The cover literally looks like it's from a film. The second song is kind of like christmas music but for spring- specifically the opening part. Although every song has it's own individual begining and end, this album feels constant. Narrative like. Like a big show with lots of kicking and moving scenes. I'm literally falling asleep (not because of album) but if Frank keeps singing any slower i'm not gonna be able to finish this album. Okay I liked a lot of the songs nearing the end. Dangerous to listen to when sleepy but that was quite nice to be honest. I did find some of this music to be performatively romantic though. Like I can picture the dramatic swooning from audience members.

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans

Again... on the beach this is lush! Pleasently surprised by this one - lots of song I didn't realise were from this album, so that was fun to hear. I really liked the transition between the songs and the orchestral stuff. Lots of bangers. I liked!

Yur I already knew I was gonna love this. I love this album - it has one of my fav songs of all time on there. Banger Alerttttt; I'm on Fire has a very special place in my heart. Big Love to Bruce. So many saxaphone solos too!! My fav instrument.

Im surprised by how much I am enjoying this - every song is so much fun to listen to if that's even the right word. I like this!

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair

Kind of repetitive and samesy I don't think I enjoyed that very much. I would have liked this more when I was younger in my emo phase - but even then some of the lyrics were just not for me lol.

Illmatic by Nas

Actually really helpful to listen to when working.

Smash by The Offspring

Lots of shouting. Very long final song with like 4 mins of silence.Which wS like theatrical but strange.

Aug 08 2026

Didn't realise how many more bangers were on here aside from the titular single.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Aug 09 2026

The cover Is so off puting but this was great! "You should be off pudding". But yeah I loved this.

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction

I don't think this is my thing unforch! A bit too much shouting but that's lokey the genre so it's just an issue with my taste, not necessarily the album.
