1001 Albums Summary

Very big, top 2 of the dans probably. Not a lot to say, frequent listen, lots of moods.

Manish boy is classic, the rest is a little one note. Like the back end of bus driver, pretty sure if 7 minutes is too long though. Little girl should've ended 5 times. Fun to hear rock ish sound at the end of crosseyed cat. Walkin' thru the park is a good end to the album with a little bit of a different sound.

Good bowie, reasonable album listen. Backstory adds a lot to the album, but very mood dependent, as is the case with many non-ziggy bowie

Really impressed! Thought I didn't like rush (motion pictures left me unimpressed). This was pretty good! First half was very good, second half was listenable.

This is such a hard rate. Some notes: - I checked how long until this album was over more than any other I've listened to - The album is extremely funny and self indulgent - I like the fact that I can hear influences to/from other artists that I like more - very of its era (affectionate and derogatory) This probably gets a 4 on the ironic scale, 1 on the "would I ever listen to this." Giving it a 2 but really defies being rated at all.

80s techno slop. I fully understand people who like the synth sound, I hate it. Some artists make sparing use of what's covered here and they only make it good because it's a novelty. They made meandering "audio space" stuff (a genre that's already a little difficult to listen to) sound robotic and mass produced. Of an era for sure, not worth listening to now.

Torn between a 1 and a 2. Start of the album was much stronger. Just don't think I like the 80s sound. Reasonable listen but really not for me. Maybe worth a 2 given that I could see playing track 1 again? Good showing from these folks, think this is more a commentary on the sound rather than their execution? Probably a 2

The album is too long, which is something I didn't factor into my initial review. There are real stand outs though. Metropolis, Sketches of Spain are really interesting and a cool blend of things. Really want to give the album a 3.5. With just culling the track listing it would be a 4. With pushing the envelope into more weird stuff I could be a 5. Very happy I found this group, wouldn't have tried without this.

This feels like normal young. Doesn't overstay its welcome, Southern Man as a highlight, but the Young voice I don't prefer with slow folky things (this is to my mind the majority of Young's work). Comfy 4 stars, could see it being 3 on a bad day or a 5 if you like Young more.

Really should be a 4.5. Front end very strong, kept that power and it would've been a 5. If I liked the U2 sound more, wouldve been a 5. If it had more songs I would listen to as singles, probably would've been a 5. Really conflicted about this rating. Depending on how stingy I want to be about 5s, I could've given this a 5. Good album, cohesive sound, just needs either a relisten or some extra oomph

This is hard to rate, probably a 2.5 with extra granularity. Of an era? Interesting fusion take? Tipping it to a 2 just because I was legitimately happy when it was over lol. Less interesting as a crossover album than if I should fall from grace with God.

More annoying than I remember, still listenable (for the original 40 minutes, not expanded). I can see for miles and general listen ability is 3. Soft 3 though.

Really good swing album, trying to decide if it deserves a 4 or 5. It does a good job but I also just left auto play running without noticing: I like swing a lot so I worry a 5 might be an oversell. Very strong 4, maybe a personal 5, we'll see. Falls into a 4.5 since I probably won't replay this a ton but we shall see.

Worth a relisten, lacking a lot of single power but cohesive and unique sound. Evil person, good music?
