1001 Albums Summary

No denying this is an amazing record—Vine and Freestyle are stone cold classics and the scope/storytelling are impressive and compelling. But every time I hear this album, I think it’s way too long. Every song eventually brings me back, but I zone out frequently during the second half. 4.5

Brilliant album. Constant propulsion, incredible songs. Artists Only, I’m Not in Love, and Stay Hungry drag ever so slightly, but Found A Job more than makes up for any shortcomings. Wonderful. 5

What am I supposed to say about A Love Supreme? Absolute classic. McCoy Tyner’s piano playing is otherworldly.

Timeless while still sounding like a time capsule. I enjoyed this much better than I remember the first time through. Last of the Steam-Powered Trains is a banger

A very boring album with song that have not aged well

Great Neil Young album, wonderful songs, deserves to be here. But I do think it’s a tad overrated compared to some of his other work. And when am I supposed to listen to this?

Didn’t listen to the whole thing, but I get it. Certainly a mood.

No thanks. Scooby Snacks is pretty good tho

I remember this album! Star rings the biggest bell. Totally missed all the On The Corner stuff in the background.

It’s always on these lists, and it’s a fine album, but I don’t even think it’s in Steely Dan’s top 5. The hits are incredible though. 3.5
