1001 Albums Summary

For there to be so many hits on this album despite Julian Casablanca’s’ low-energy delivery is such a testament to the orchestration. Very good.

Some garage rock, some Beach Boys, some Beatles, some classic rock, some jazz (that piano solo!!) and some noise music flair. It flies in every mode. The fact that it’s so hard to categorize makes it an outstandingly fun listen. Simultaneously, I do appreciate an album that has a slightly better sense of itself.

Need to listen to this again. Back half felt like a perfect album. First half bored me. Too clean for punk?

There’s four outstanding songs on this album (Que ‘Onda Guerro, Missing, Earthquake Weather, Broken Drum). The rest are pretty easy to dislike and in some cases make fun of.
