This was an awesome album that had some great classic heavy metal sounds. It's crazy to me that this was out five years before Star Wars, it feels so timeless and it still goes hard. Some of the slower ballads didn't quite do it for me, and towards the end the songs began to blend together, but it still had some *amazing* highs and Ozzie's voice still rocks like no other.
Well, my right ear enjoyed the vocals in this album. Jokes aside, I'm not sure if it was an audio mixing decision or what but I was not a fan of how the vocals were essentially isolated to just my right earbud. Maybe it sounds better on vinyl. The last song was a breath of fresh air when the vocals actually came through both ears, and I really enjoyed it. Not just for that reason, but it certainly helped. It also is apparently a cover of another song, which I didn't realize.
Beyond that, it's the Beatles, so it's not bad. I looked up some rankings of their albums however and I wasn't surprised to see this near the bottom of most. It has the sound of early Beatles, when they were still a young, energetic boy band. Their harmonies are impressive and none of the songs are bad, but when I did a Beatles tribute marching band show in college, I'm not surprised none of these songs were included. It doesn't have any giant Beatles heavy hitters, in my opinion.
I did really enjoy their cover of Please Mister Postman, and Till There Was You—which I also didn't realize was a cover. There's a lot of covers in this album, apparently. It's a good album, but it's not the Beatles work that made them the *Beatles*, which I'm sure I'll be eventually getting to. I'm glad to get this album so early in my journey, before their later more popular work. It'll be interesting to see how their sound evolves.
Well this album was a pleasant surprise to the ears. I'd never heard of this artist or this album—though I now know she was part of Bob Dylan's circles—and getting the opportunity to listen to it is part of the reason I'm happy I found this website. Lovely folksy 70s sounds, great harmonies and instrumentation. This was a joy to the ears and I probably would have never checked it out otherwise.
Oh hell yes, I love me some Zeppelin. They hit it out of the park with their first album with a great mix of hard rock and some slower, more bluesy tunes. I feel like it's impossible not to smile when Robert Plant is doing some call-and-response with Jimmy Paige's guitar. I'm glad I watched a video a while ago that explained why John Bonham's drumming is so good—I was able to appreciate it more for this album.
As I listen to more albums from start to finish, I do find my mind drifting a bit once I get towards the second half. I wonder how much of this is my TikTok-riddled attention span, though I think the mark of a good album is its ability to hold your attention throughout.
I could be wrong, but I also think that modern music isn't designed to be listened to in a cover-to-cover album—they're largely a set of individual, catchy tracks that are meant to be streamed at will, whereas older albums were an experience as a whole. So just like how movies will have some slower, more ethereal scenes to counter the big spectacle moments, older albums will have some more vibey songs to counter the big singles which are meant to be listened to in the context of the album as a whole. I think that's why I'll sometimes zone out in the middle of these albums; I'm used to just picking all the catchiest songs from various artists—the big singles—rather than listening to a single, deliberate album. And I usually miss the more vibey songs that aren't part of an artist's top ten most listened-to songs on Spotify.
Anyway, all that is to say this album did have some more vibey songs that I did kind of zone out too, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I like the mix of sounds on this album, and on the whole I think it's great.
Note to self: If I see a red-haired stranger walking past, give him a wide berth and just leave him be.
This was a nice album. Willie has a unique and pleasant voice and the music was pleasing to the ears, but it was a little mellow for my tastes and, as per usual, I got a bit distracted during the second half. I was also following the story of the song, but I feel like began to fizzle out a bit—though that may just be due to my getting distracted. I'm glad I listened to it, but it didn't completely "wow" me.
This album did some cool stuff, but it wasn't really for me. I didn't dislike my time listening to it, and I'm glad I did, but by the end I was essentially waiting for it to be over. This sound just isn't my style, but I know that's a personal preference. It is fun however to come across the band's biggest song and go, "Oh, that's who sings that song and this is the album it comes from. Neat."
I really enjoyed this album. Nice, classic rock with some folk and funk sounds mixed in. It didn't completely blow me away, but I like what it was doing—and it did it well.
This was a funky, psychedelic rock/jazz fusion that I found myself really enjoying. I feel like you don't listen to this album so much as you just vibe with it. It feels like the rock version of freeform jazz, and while I can understand why that wouldn't be for everyone, I found myself along for the ride it was taking me on. It didn't have any standout songs that I can even remember, but I could see myself throwing this on again someday as background music as I'm doing work.
Y'know I've always felt like more songs should be about the wellbeing of hobos after they die. Do they have freight trains in heaven?
In all seriousness, this album was fantastic. I was taken aback when those harmonies hit me in the first song, what a great intro. I suppose it's no surprise considering this is effectively a country music supergroup starring three of the best female country singers of all time.
I will say, I preferred more of the upbeat, lively songs over the slower ballads about men. But all of the songs were bangers. I might be giving this album more credit after Dolly's recent passing, but goddamn could she sing. Anyway, I'm willing to give this a perfect score. They hit it out of the park and I fail to see how it could've been improved.
I feel like when RHCP hits, they really hit for me. There's a visceral moment I have of listening to Turn it Again on the way home from work after a busy shift—having never listened to it fully before—and just cranking it tf up at the end when the song really revs up and just getting fully absorbed in the sound. That's still one of my favorites, I just love the raw energy at the end.
But RHCP doesn't always hit for me, and this album didn't entirely. I didn't dislike it, and there are some classics on here like Under the Bridge and Give it Away, but on the whole, listening to the album from start to finish, I could take or leave most of the songs. I think I also have to be in the right mood to get into their specific vibe of sound, and maybe I just wasn't this time.
All told, I'm giving it 3 stars.
I mean you have an album with Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean all in a row. I feel like I'd be remiss if I didn't give this album a 5. It's full of classics that I've been listening to all my life, and the music is just as timeless as it was 40 years ago.

This album was good. I enjoyed it, some songs more than others, but didn't fall in love with it. This isn't my go-to flavor of rock, but I respect it and what Jack White does.
Damn okay. Christina Aguilera has a pretty distinct voice and I'm sure I've listened to some of her songs, but just the radio pop songs. And those were fine, I guess—I had no opinion of Christina Aguilera really. There's one where she's like "I just want to feeeeel this moment." I know she had an annoying cameo in the Emoji Movie, that was probably biggest cultural impact she had in my life.
So I had no expectations going into this, but I'll be dammed if this album didn't surprise the hell out of me—holy shit it was good!! I put this on while I was working on some other stuff, expecting it to kind of fade into the background. But it immediately demanded forefront attention.
This album really clicked for me, it had a lot of the kinds of sounds I love. Great beats and instrumentation, swelling choruses, great vocals and cool vocal filters, catchy melodies, soulful rhythms. I'm glad I was introduced to this album.
I also like how the second disc of this album has a very different sound to the first—though I did prefer the first.
This album was fine. This flavor of rock doesn't really do it for me. I didn't dislike it, but it didn't stand out as I listened to it, and I ultimately found it pretty boring.

Early 2000s edgy emo rock still goes hard. This album is great and hyped me up on the treadmill while I listened to it, which I appreciate.
