"hello" its ok but its kinda boring, like its a very formulaic. the fake wonderwall intro is good
"roll with it" has a very beatlesque vocal harmony, but the song has the same problem as the previous one, its very formulaic and predictable.
im seeing it will not be an album that takes risks
"wonderwall" i hate the guitar. i dont like the melotron, i dont even know why they added it. i do like the vocals. the drum sound like the Metallica's st anger pan tone. and i have to add that this song has really pissed me off after listening to it so many times.
"dont look bad in anger" i really like the chorus. i like all the instrumental besides the drums, i think all the album is going to have this sound. the verses are good too.
"hey now" i like the rhythm it had my leg being a metronome. i think its kind of long, it could be a minute or two shorter. i think has most of the songs in this album its formulaic, but it aint a bad song, just that its kind of the same song after song, waiting for a hit.
the interlude is better that wonderwall lol
"some might say" i dont wanna repeat myself, but its formulaic and not only that, but all the formulaic songs follow the same formula, which i can see it has reached its peak and its not so high.
i also have to add that the whole album has weird lyrics, they're a bunch of nostalgic/sad phrases tossed in a boring instrumental.
"cast no shadow" if wonderwall didn't existed this would be the worst song of the album. its, as always, formulaic, but this time it isnt boring, its just annoying. the choirs (the "(ah ah)" and "(pride)") make my ears bleed.
"she's electric" i kind of think the rhythm its good but dont feel it. and the rest of the song is boring. the highs of liam in (for example when he says "and i wAnt you to say") are not good sounding.
"morning glory" i like the guitar, the rhythm and the vocals, not crazily but its pretty good. when liam says "what's the story morning glory" its the peak of the album. the solo is good. best song of the album as far as now 8,5 or 8 outta 10
"champagne supernova" i like the vocal harmony but not much the mix, i think they're a bit low ( i know britpop has things of shoegaze but still), i like the instrumental but i think the whole shoegaze style of the song its not very well performed by the band, anyways its not a bad song and i like the solo.
As a whole the album has a lot of bad things: its very formulaic , repetitive and consequently plain.
its a kinda funny album, like it can entertain you but not more, don't try to look complexity or smth interesting in it cause there's nothing. its simple and plain. its not a terrible album tho, it is just mid. between 5-6 outta 10
"feels so different" it kinda sounds like a song from an epic medieval movie's trailer.
"i'm stretched on your grave" i didnt expected a kind of trip hop or whatever this is. anyways its not my kind of music, its so vocal and i dont like that much the voice of sinead (i mean, she has a good voice, but not one strong enough to carry the entire album imo)
"three babies" 3 songs and 3 different genres, wow.
"the emperor's new clothes" 4 songs and 4 different genres, not surprised.
"black boys on mopeds" when she sings "remembEr what i told you..." the "rEmember" is so ear disturbing, the rest of the song its a mid folk pop not that bad.
"nothing compares 2 u" i dont usually like adult genres (aor and adult contemporary) and this song is adult contemporary, but its not that bad. it has a simple and very common instrumental and a harmonious voice singing bout sum love, in a cringeworthyway
"jump in the river" the lyrics are kinda cringe too. "and if you said jump in the river i would because it would probably be a good idea" sounds like a 13 years old emo saying "nobody loves me" while having a thoroughly well-off and loving typical family. but it doesnt sound that bad, tho its a poor attempt of doing alt rock.
"you cause as much sorrow" idk what to say, very simple singer-songwriter song but i liked it. it is the best song of the album
"last day of our acquaintance" i dont like the guitar tone in the breakdown. anyways the song is not bad, but i think it could have been better than it actually is.
"i do not want what i havent got" im not listening to a 6 minutes acapella at 4AM, i listened to it skipping, the voice its annoying, an acapella song with an annoying voice, and its long.
in general, its not a bad album, its mid and prolly not for me, but definitely even if it was for me its not more than a 3 or being generous 3,25. but for me its between 2 and 2,5
i know nothing about jazz so idk what to say or qualifiy, so I just rated the songs based on how much I liked them, speaking from a place of ignorance.
"let the good times roll" 3.5
"it had to be you" 2.5
"alexander ragtime band" 3
"two years of torture" 2
"when your lover has gone" 2.5
"deed i do" 3
"just for a thrill" 2.5
"you wont let me go" 2.5
"tell me you'll wait for me" 2.5
"dont let the sun catch you" 2.5
"am i blue" 2.5
"come rain or come shine" 2.5
basically, even knowing nothing bout jazz, i cant tell this album has nothing interesting, its sounds like jazz from a disney movie or a low budget one. its just like npc jazz.
idk if its a 10, maybe a 9.5. kinda overrated but its a masterpiece anyways
"waitin' for the bus" its feels like some kind of southern blues or smth, i didn't knew what to expect about this album i've never heard the band before. its kinda good, i like the groove but it aint the big thing.
"jesus just left chicago" it has very american lyrics.
"beer drinkers n hell raisers" its only me but i feel the vocals are so similar Alice In Chains. its a hard rock/rock n roll basic songs, i liked it tho. the only thing that it could be a bit shorter, but good anyways.
"master of sparks" this is pure sotuhern rock, it isnt a bad song just because of that, actually i think its pretty good.
"hot, blue and righteous" i think this is the ballad of the album, i actually didnt payed attention to the lyrics. it boring. and idk if im slow but i hear some doom metal things.
"move me on down the line" this has to be the anthem of barbecues, there is no song more american than this one. not so bad tho.
"precious and grace" its hard rock a bit over-mid song. dont have a lot to say.
"la grange" the outro its too long but the song is good.
"sheik" the name makes me think bout shrek. mid
"have you heard"
