1001 Albums Summary

Classic for a reason. The band, the piano, the swinging vocals. But it feels dated 60 years later - not something I would seek out but happy to have it show up once in a while for nostalgia.

An album of classics that I've never asked where they came from. Definitely a bit dated, feels like some could be right at home in a classic Bond movie. But like those movies, not something I'd put on every day.

It's interesting that on Spotify the listens go down as the album goes on - I think it gets better and much more dynamic as it goes on. It starts as generic sounding background jazz before being willing to explore a bit.

I'm not usually much of a metal listener, but couldn't help getting into this. The guitar, the drums, the vocals all hit hard but are clean and clear and constantly compelling.

I'm impressed by her versatility and vocal ability as she jumps between genres in one album, but none of those genres are really for me especially when flavored with her particular tone

Maybe there is such a thing as too much bongo

It sounds like every other good grunge band because every other grunge band tries to sound like this.

That unique guitar is always present but not always front and center, which is a really cool dynamic. I've watched some live videos from this album and the creativity is absolutely wild.

(The link to Spotify doesn't seem to be right). I get the interest here but am a much bigger fan of more modern electronica. The "drum and bass" is just missing something for me to keep interest past the first song or two

Funk is really not my thing

One of my favorite albums of all time. 6 stars.

Doesn't sound like an album from the late 70s, very ahead of its time. Very interested in listening to the rest of their catalog which is supposed to vary pretty widely

A creative classic but I know how much more I appreciate some other Beatles albums, so only 4*

Music for a rainy day, in all senses of the phrase. Familiar and solid, and perfect for quietly reading in some cabin nook as the rain comes down. But unremarkable on its own.
