1001 Albums Summary

Solid album filled with folk, rock, and folk-rock hits. Love the touches of genius spread throughout: the distorted ending on Cinnamon Girl; the ooh-woo's meandering through Round and Round; the build-up of the closer Cowgirl in the Sand. And of course, the killer title track Everybody Knows, short, sweet, powerful. Sadly, do not care too much for the meandering Down By The River, or much of anything else the second half has to offer. But can gladly say they don't AT ALL bother me either.

I imagine this guy being like a 70's Beck. Didn't really hook into this album. Aside from Get It On (pretty good) and Cosmic Dancer (REALLY good), I probably won't revisit this album. 2 stars feels too harsh, but 3 stars also wouldn't feel fair.

Didn't really feel like listening to this, so I got into it today with a negative energy. And... it was actually really nice! For the first part at least. This Protector is a fine closer to a somewhat boring second half. But the hits are hits!

I guess it's cool. To be fair didn't really have the opportunity to listen to it intentionally. Listened it while writing reports at work... But I did catch on to some good tunes, so I'll have to revisit it another time...

Sade is great. They have some standouts, like (for me) Smooth Operator, Hang On to your Love, Frankie's First Affair. But this one isn't really my favorite. And, like with more albums, I kinda lose interest after the halfway mark.

This is pretty sick!

Buddy got us tickets to see Bob for his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. Wasn't too familiar with all his work, so I went through his backlog. This stood out to me the most! Can't help but scream Idiot Wind along. Love the chilled out ending. Only song I actively don't care about is Rosemary and Jack of Hearts. Other than that, bangers!

Never heard of it before, don't know the significance of this band or this album. But really fun to listen to! Detailed choices in production. And love the guitar work on 8:05! Short and sweet, will be revisiting this.
