1001 Albums Summary

Pretty sure I've heard this one before. I reckon maybe in like year 11 or something. I didn't think it was particularly memorable then, but I guess it is one of the pillars of prog rock. 21st Century Schizoid Man was sampled by Kanye on Power I think. Wonderful song. I quite enjoyed it. I Talk to the Wind, Epitaph were drained out, nothing really noteworthy. But listenable. Moonchild is avant garde, not really my thing. Sparse, just some dude fuck around on some strings and I think a xylophone. A skip in my opinion. Juxtaposed by the next song, The Court of the Crimson King, a lush intro, then a lull into the sparseness that dominates throughout this record. Then back into the lush. Beautiful. Brings a tear to my eye. So that was it. Good shit I guess. I don't think it has quite withstood the test of time like a Pink Floyd or the Beatles.

Warm and fuzzy. I can't believe I'd never got around to this. This one definitely lives up to the test of time. It reminds me of being in a dimly lit bar with friends, tipsy, and chainsmoking the cheapest cigarettes we could get our hands on. I wonder what it would've been like to hear this when it first came out. I really liked After Hours. I think I'm going to learn how to play it.

Nice jam, but not really my cup of tea. I understand its cultural relevance, especially in the States, but since I am not American it does not really resonate with me as much. But that being said, I think this is probably one of the albums that truly embodies the United States and the American people. Bobby Jean was a favourite of mine.
