1001 Albums Summary

Excellent variety, with exciting composition and mixing. Favourite songs: Sitting up Straight, She's So Loose

This album is the most Eric of all Clapton. Majority of the album is a snooze-fest and Layla is overrated. 3 minutes being good out of a 7 minute song doesn't make it a good song. Last 4 minutes sound like uninspired egotistical jerking off with a guitar and piano - Outro should've been 1 minute tops. Also dislike how they "Clapton'd" all over beloved Little Wing like that. Decent production but the sound all melted together for me. 2/5 - "Eric Clapton? Yea, Clapton deez nuts."

It's hard to follow up License to Ill, and this album is unfortunately lesser known because of that I think. But it's still an awesome one, you can hear all the inspiration from other genres and the experimentation. Beastie Boys are known and stand out for good reason. 4/5

It's an album.

It's got pizazz, whimsy, and a lotta character. It's David Bowie damnit.

I'm givin it a 3 for the lyricism. I dislike how Bob sings 80% of the time, but the man can write some damn good lyrics. It's aight.

Right outta the gate the music hit me. I had never heard of Fela before, nor did I listen to much jazz, and I didn't know Afro Beat. This is the first 5 I'm giving because it truly feels like it belongs in this list. I don't want Bowie, Dylan, or anybody else I've heard of 1001 times already. GIVE ME MORE LIKE FELA, THE PEOPLE NEED IT. 5/5 - It made me feel something.
