After The Gold Rush by Neil Young

The first song is 3 minutes but feels so much longer. The instrumentation is nice, but I really dislike this guy's nasally whine. It's not as obnoxious as Bob Dylan, but not as tolerable as Liam Gallagher. Only Love Can Break Your Heart was a decent track. He sang with less of that nasal whine. The rest left very little of an impression on me. I didn't like any of it, I disliked some of it, but overall I don't feel very strongly one way or the other. I wasn't able to relate to any of the lyrics (though I wasn't breaking them down for secret wordplay with deeper meanings beyond the surface). It teeters on 2/5, but it doesn't feel right going into the negatives when my strongest feeling is indifference.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre

I never feel good giving a negative rating to a universally acclaimed album considered one of the greatest of all time, but I just don't like how it sounds. I'm not a music geek, I don't understand or appreciate the details that make a record a special work of art. If I like the sound I'm willing to dive into it, but otherwise I'm just a normie to this artform.

'Of Moons, Birds & Monsters' was a decent track. I did not like the rest of it.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

I could imagine myself liking this music as tracks in a film score, but on it's own I'm left feeling indifferent.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes

I didn't know this kind of alt-rock even existed in the 80s. The characters in Worthikids' "Xylophone" animation were right when they said xylophones/marimbas are underutilized in rock music, because it is an interesting sound to accompany guitars and drums. It was interesting enough that I gave 'Gone Daddy Gone' another listen after finishing the album (and 'Kiss Off' because it started playing automatically). I wouldn't choose to listen to any of these songs again, but I wouldn't be bothered enough to stand up to turn off the radio if one of them came on (I don't have a radio, but if I did this would be the case).

It sparked so little out of me - positive or negative - that I'm left with nothing to say.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

Sonically interesting with a lot of neat instrumentation, and I could potentially see it clicking with me one day if I were to revisit it a few times, but it not working for me right now.

Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits

I haven't hated a singer's voice this much since I first heard Bob Dylan. It certainly makes for an interesting style even if I tremendously dislike how it sounds.
