Had previously heard a few tracks and liked them, but overall really impressed. There were certainly some standouts and a few less strong tracks. This is the kind of hip hop I like. The influence of funk and jazz is obvious.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Oct 03 2026

Probably not in my top Wailers albums, but so good and so influential.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Oct 04 2026

A Prince record I've never heard. Great pop tunes

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Oct 05 2026

This really brings me back. It was raw and energetic, a complement to Smells Like Teen Spirit's (released on the same day) melancholy.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Oct 06 2026

Swings hard with the medium size band. You can hear all the melodic elements that are later present with the smaller group where they'll be given the space to stretch. It's kept tight here adn makes each tune very approachable. Great album.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Oct 07 2026

Intellectually stimulating but musically unsatisfying. They were always kind of nihilistic but I think after OK Computer, the lack of any hope in the music leaves the listener with only melancholy. While I actually like melancholic music, in the absence of something for contrast it can be tedious.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Oct 08 2026

What an incredible glimpse into cuban jazz. Casually throw together a bunch of legends, unknown to most of the world. Such fun, such beauty.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Oct 09 2026

Love folk music, but find this pretty milquetoast. In 1969 would have loved loved it, but even then it's so far behind what Dylan was doing, or what we were seeing out of other singer songwriters of the time.

Smash by The Offspring
Oct 11 2026

pop punk. Quite catchy at times, but man are these lyrics bad.

White Ladder by David Gray
Oct 12 2026

It's pretty, it's sad, it's kinda bland

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Oct 13 2026

Lots of talent, fun songs, just not my style

Oct 14 2026

It's like a bad high school band. They have a lot of swagger, but id doesn't make up for the droll and machismo lyrics and mediocre guitar and drums. It was hard to make it through.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Oct 15 2026

Anti-melodic. Proto punk maybe just isn’t for me.

Traffic by Traffic
Oct 16 2026

The blend of rock, pop, psychedelia is packaged in an aesthetically pleasing and occasionally slapping way. Fascinating to picture this as part of what the Beatles and Stones were doing in this same era.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Oct 17 2026

I wasn't sure what to expect here but it wasn't this. May have been revolutionary, but it is a little too simple for my taste. The grooves are okay, but it's not dance-able, not sing-able. I guess it's enjoyable enough for studying.

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Oct 18 2026

I've never even heard of this band, but i liked the album. It give Vulfpeck. Would listen again

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Oct 19 2026

So influencial it almost seems like a stereotype. Clearly it isn't. It grooves with an inner fire. Not a ton of variety, but that's the nature of I-IV-I-V

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Oct 20 2026

Buttery smooth vocals, funky grooves, great playing.

Oct 21 2026

I give it high points for its evocative melancholy, but lacks the soul, the melody, or the witticism that I like most in folk music. Still, I could explore more of his catalogue. 3/5 *New artist to me

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Oct 24 2026

I only knew this from the cover of Hallelujah previously so I was a little surprised at how hard it rocks at times. Extremely soulful, Buckley‘s voice can soar in incredible ways. I think it’s just not for me though.
