Popular Reviews

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse

This is exciting - can't wait to expand my musical horizons. Let's go! I'm inclined to agree with some of the reviews - I don't find this particularly memorable, but it's good background music and there are a couple of standout tracks.

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5

I really liked the rhythms here and the overall chilled vibe of the music, but as someone who doesn't listen to a lot of hip hop this was a bit wasted on me. There are a few tracks I'll come back to though, and I might dig deeper into the genre.

Faith by George Michael
Oct 26 2026

This is the first big album I've had on this list, and I was excited to hear it all the way through. I'm glad I have - and it was a good start to my Sunday morning! There is a bit of filler, but even that has plenty of soul and rhythm. I always felt I hadn't truly appreciated George's talent while he was alive, and this album only confirms that.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Oct 27 2026

I had no idea what to expect from this, being largely unfamiliar with Nilsson's music, but I was pleasantly surprised - there's some good pop songwriting here. "Gotta Get Up, "The Moonbeam Song" and "Down" are probably my standouts. I'll probably revisit this somewhere down the line (but I might skip "Coconut").

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Oct 28 2026

This is an early favourite. Love Dusty's voice and the orchestration, and I don't think there's a bad song on it. It's quite timely for me too - I'm in the midst of a soul phase at the moment!

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Oct 29 2026

I was going to give this two stars, but a couple of tracks convinced me to bump it up to three. I should really like this - it's good old high-energy rock and roll and and the musicianship is excellent. The crowd noise adds to the atmosphere, too. Ultimately though, it's a bit samey. And that's not always a bad thing, but this didn't capture my attention in the way I hoped. In short - didn't hate it, don't love it either.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Oct 31 2026

On a certain day, if I was feeling a certain way, this would probably have its place. It's definitely an album that could move me or put me in a reflective mood. But today is Friday, and this doesn't exactly evoke that Friday feeling! Dark by name, dark by nature...

Among The Living by Anthrax
Nov 01 2026

After the dreariness of Leonard Cohen yesterday, I was really hoping for more energy in today's choice. And I wasn't disappointed! I'm not a metal aficionado but when I do listen to it, it's usually 70s/80s stuff - so I enjoyed this. Great to get lost in the riffs and rock out!
