Planet of Ice is the third full-length album from Minus the Bear, released in the UK on August 20, 2007 and in the US on August 21 by Suicide Squeeze Records. It was produced and recorded by the band's former keyboard player, Matt Bayles, in February and March 2007. It is the first Minus the Bear album to feature keyboardist Alex Rose, who replaced Matt Bayles after he left the band to concentrate on his career as a producer. It is also their last album on Suicide Squeeze Records until 2017's Voids.
Reviews
Without noticing I’ve already gone back to the user submissions. The fact that this was from 2007 clued me in: Dimery would never go back to fix that far… The album itself is a kind of proggy alt rock. Nice tunes!
My old housemate adored Minus the Bear. For me, a bit of a triumph of technical brilliance over songs, but not unenjoyable
I liked the previous entry by this band a lot. I liked this too, not sure if quite as much. Bit more of a uniform tone to it. But good, shades of prog rock, new wave and particularly the Police. Very confident in their sound.
It's fine. Best Track: Ice Monster 2.5
