Scott 4 by Scott Walker

The Seventh Seal is amazing Orchestration is incorporated into band's music very nicely Deep, rich voice Slowly paced until late on in the album

Black Metal by Venom
Nov 19 2020

One or two quite good songs Mostly forgettable with lots of cliches Very bad production even by 1982 standards Every sound has subsequently been done better by many other bands

Scott 4 by Scott Walker

The Seventh Seal is amazing Orchestration is incorporated into band's music very nicely Deep, rich voice Slowly paced until late on in the album

In Utero by Nirvana
Nov 23 2020

Songs sound very stripped back and raw Mix of immediate hits and dissonant noise rock Sick, introverted lyrics All the songs seem connected without sounding similar

Nov 24 2020

Dynamic in pace and intensity Solo piano at the beginning of track 3 is very nice Inclusion of Spanish guitar also in track 3 is good Typically ‘jazz sounding’ but nothing very memorable

Forever Changes by Love
Nov 25 2020

Very cool incorporation of electric guitar leads into largely acoustic rhythm guitars Blend of folk balladry and psych rock Nice, concise songwriting Warm but clear 60s production Last two songs are the best on the album

Elephant by The White Stripes
Nov 26 2020

The Sound of garage rock This is how to write ‘stripped back’ rock songs Guitars and drums are rarely flashy but work for the song 100% ‘Deep cuts’ are probably even better than the hits Guitar tones manage to sound classic yet heavy as hell and somehow up to date Ball and Biscuit is a rock classic One of the 2000s best rock albums

Nov 27 2020

Touches more on 60s psychedelic sounds than the typical folk rock style Laid back vibe for most songs, still playing into more psychedelic and chill sounds Relying more on vocal harmonies and reverb than riffs or up front grooves Bass and drums offer tasty fills that flesh out the music The more folk leaning songs still suits their sound more than the experimental ones Parts of it sound very inspire by what the Beatles were doing at the time but the songwriting is less sharp

Horses by Patti Smith
Nov 30 2020

Poetic, fleshed out songs Instrumentation often simple allows focus on key lyrics Few stand out hooks or melodies but songs still remain engaging due to stand out vocals Music incorporates rock and singer songwriter moments which keeps tracks sound varied from each other
