Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols
Sex PistolsI get that this one of the most influential albums of all time, but it sounds f-ing terrible🤷🏻♂️

Kanye West: The College Dropout: 8/10 Love the upfront and direct production style. Kanye’s bars are spot on, and the various features actually blend well with the album. Good mix of catchy more mainstream songs and deeper more contemplative tracks as well. All the beats slap too. Jesus Walks hits different with that backup choir👌🏽 Slow Jamz is a bop with that sweet R&B groove. Kanye kinda be spittin fax in School Spirit. The skits are hilarious too😂 The only negative I can find is that the album is a little longer then it needs to be.
An absolute masterpiece of an album. Every track on the record is laced with intricate instrumentation and lovely vocal harmonies, and to top it all off, you get Karen Carpenters stunning voice. Fantastic stuff👌🏽
Hotel California, Eagles:7/10 The title track is a certified classic for good reason. Iconic guitar riffs and solos, singalongable lyrics, plus danceable drums and fantastic production all make this song infinitely replay-able. “New Kid in Town” is very catchy with vocal harmonies that are like candy to the ears. “Life in the Fast Lane” starts out with one of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time, and doesn’t get any less good throughout the entire song. “Wasted Time” is a surprisingly sentimental soft rock balled that’s quite good, if not a little dramatic. “Wasted Time (2.0) is a beautiful stringed instrumental that serves as a nice interlude before the next half of the album. “Victim of Love” is a solid track, but maybe lacks a bit of the emotion or energy of some of the previous tracks. “Pretty Maids All in a Row” is a pleasant sounding piano balled where the Eagles once again show off their talent for harmonies. “Try and Love Again” isn’t anything too special, but still a solid song, albeit it might stretch a little longer then it needs too. “The Last Resort” is a fitting ending to the album, combining aspects of what I thought were the best parts about the album as a whole. Conclusion: Classic album, an absolute powerhouse for the entire first half, but maybe loses its momentum in the second section.
Fantastic album👌🏽 The track Even After All was especially good.
Interesting album. Not really my type but I can appreciate the quality.
Nice album to listen to, very well made and good quality👌🏽
Strangely hypnotic in the weirdest way
Not really my style🤷🏻♂️

Classic, well made album. Docking a star because I feel some of the tracks are dragged on for a little too long. Standout tracks: Riders on the Storm, Cars Hiss by My Window, Crawling King Snake. 👍🏽

Interesting stuff. Prolly not something I’d listen too in my spare time, but kinda groovy nonetheless 🤷🏻♂️

It was aight, but the first half kinda had me falling asleep 🤷🏻♂️
Decent sound, amazing guitar work. The vocals kinda got annoying after a while tho.
Love the delicate and intricate instrumentation. (That acoustic guitar!👌🏽🤤) Nick Drakes vocals blend well with this style of music, but could be lacking in emotion/power? That flute goes hard on the title track Bryter Layter. The sax hits on Poor Boy. Northern sky is simply a wonderful track. Great album with a mysterious somber vibe.

Isn’t Anything, my bloody valentine: 2/10 Opening track isn’t my favorite, feels like it grates my ears a bit. “Lose my breath” doesn’t sound “good” by any conventional definition, but for so me strange reason I didn’t mind it. “Cupid Come” starts out good, then slowly gets bothersome tbh. “You’re still in a dream” just sounds too loud and overbearing for me. Ok, seriously? Can you even call this music? “No more sorry” literally just sounds like lyrics sung over jumbled chaotic sound🤦🏻♂️ “All I need” gives us more of the now oh so familiar distorted reverberated guitars, and I wish they’d change it up a bit. “Feed me with your kiss” is probably the worst one so far. So freaking loud and deafening, and not in a good way at all. Got to hand it to the drummer though, at least he does his job well😂 “Sueisfine” Sue may be fine but I’m definitely not. No mbv, repeating the same words over and over again doesn’t make a terrible concept any better. I actually don’t mind “Several girls galore” surprisingly, maybe bc it is one of the shortest tracks so far, thus not prolonging the agony to my ears.“You never should” brings us more terrible mumbled vocals and yep, more obnoxious guitar. “Nothing much to lose” is probably my favorite track so far, most likely due to its more straightforward “Cureish” sound. The guitar is still much to loud though. “I can see it” actually has a discernible melody, so points there from me. Conclusion: No thank you, this album really “Isn’t Anything” special at all.

Lazer Guided Melodies, Spiritualized- 7/10 “You know it’s true” and “if I were with her now” were both fantastic in terms of production, and both utilize a brilliant use of panning that keeps things interesting. But they somewhat lacked the sort of structure that I enjoy. “I want you” is a much more upfront, massive sounding stadium rocker that I really quite like. “Run” I feel slightly brings to light that the vocal performances so far haven’t really been anything spectacular. “Smiles” is slightly disappointing because it builds up this concept for a minute and a half then just fades away right when your ready for it to crescendo. “Step into the Breeze” has the same problem; as soon as the song starts to get interesting it just ends… “Symphony Space” is really just sound rather then music, and I am reviewing music, not ambient sounding noise. “Take Your Time” is decidedly eerie sounding with these somber guitars and Jason’s almost whispered vocals. It almost sounds like the soundtrack to a midnight walk on another planet… “Shine a Light” sounds like it’s straight from another dimension and is a little longer then it needs to be, but hey, it’s definitely interesting. After all the previous mellow sounding songs “Angel Sigh” really slaps you awake with a killer guitar riff and powerful drumming, but again is a little long winded and overstays it’s welcome. Maybe I’m just tired, but “Sway” really almost had me falling asleep, and again right when it got good it just ended. I feel “200 Bars” is hypnotizing my ears in a way, and it’s quite strange. Conclusion: Spiritualized really created something unique here, and if the future sounded like anything, this is prolly what I’d imagine it to sound like😂 It’s like U2, The Cure, My bloody valentine, and Beach House had a giant futuristic baby in outer space. And I like it. 7/10
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Wilco: 7/10 “I am Trying to Break Your Heart” is an interesting roller coaster of an opener, somewhat chaotic, but it works. “Kamera” is a much more straightforward alt country garage rock jammer. “Radio Cure” has some interesting instrumentation going on in the background, but Tweedy’s vocals kinda make me want to die in this track, ngl. “War on War” is probably the funnest track thus far with a cool psychedelic synthy sound effect playing behind those classic Wilco grungy guitars. “Jesus Etc” is by far the smoothest most straightforward track I’ve come across on the record so far, and I feel it incorporates really well all the musical elements that I like about Wilco. One of my favorite songs of all time by them. “Ashes of American Flags” is what we’d call “experimental” and I’m not sure if that’s in a good way… “Heavy Metal Drummer” is another one of those tracks that reminds me of drives around town with my Dad, straight nostalgia. “I’m the Man Who Loves You” is another fun little song with great guitar work and captivating instrumentation. “Pot Kettle Black” draws back the energy a bit and pumps up the Wilco country grunge. “Poor Places” starts out strong then collapses into chaos that drags on for a little too long. We close off the album with “Reservations,” Wilco’s version of a soft rock ballad that fades hauntingly away into oblivion… Conclusion: A classic turning point in the timeline of alt rock, this grungy garage rock record might not be for everyone, but it holds a special place in my heart. 7/10
Ella Fitzgerald- Ella Fitzgerald Sings The George and Ira Gershwin Song Book (1958): Something about Ellas’ voice and the delicate instrumentation and fantastic production of this record really brings to life what I’d think the fifty’s sounded like.
The Specials- More Specials (1980): 7/10 Starts off on a bouncy ska sorta tone and continues to fuse many different genres throughout the album, utilizing many different instruments. Really weird, but in a good way. Probably not something I’d listen to in my spare time, but definitely a fun and interesting one time listen.
Starts out gloriously with a monstrous 10 minute track, then things get weird for a sec before again building up to a powerful crescendo in “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth”. “Heaven Can Wait” starts out on a more mellow pace which blossoms into an actually beautiful piano balled. The next song revs up the energy again and that same energy continues throughout the rest of the album. Powerful and dynamic listen, but some tracks grow a little too long and overstay their welcome… 6/10
Vauxhall and I- Morrissy (1994): 7/10 Right off the bat I am impressed with the sound. The epic guitar and drums intertwined with Morrissys vocals is really captivating. We are off to a great start. Next, we have a mellower track that really showcases Morrissys cryptic writing style, with an intriguing use of what seems to be… Radio chatter? In the background. Once again, I am impressed by the guitar on the next track. “Hold onto your friends“ has officially converted me to this style of production, plus I’m digging the message lyrically. The next track starts out on a riff that’s borderline iconic. This stadium filling sound is really something. An upbeat haunting acoustic tune comes next, and I’m not complaining about this one. “The lazy sunbathers“ has a great message about complacency during difficult times. Album finishes epically with “speedway”.
