Popular Reviews

What can you really say about a Beatles album? There’s a hovering obligation to give credit where credit is surely due for being the first to do something, forging a path that other artists I love clearly followed in. You wouldn’t want to say you didn’t enjoy it because that sounds ungrateful or simple. I thought this album would be a lot of things it wasn’t. I thought I’d like it more or like it less. The beginning and end built up an urgency that the rest of the album never quite caught up with. Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I’m just ungrateful or simple.

Private Dancer by Tina Turner

An interesting and cool album. I’m not sure how much Tina Turner you’re supposed to consume at one time, but by the end of it I was feeling overwhelmed. Very aggressive. I can’t stand the rain is phenomenal.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre

I could do without the skits.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones

Definitely more blues-y than I thought it would be, which was a nice surprise. I love factory girl.

Tapestry by Carole King

I enjoyed this album quite a bit, mostly because I love sad music and I found most of this album to be very sad. There’s a desperation in even songs like Where You Lead, which seems to be a sweet song. Many of these songs I had only heard covers of, but many of them don’t even scratch the surface of the emotion Carole King serves. Overall, loved it.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds

I have no idea why you would start an album with this song. If I was going off of this song alone it’s a one star. I was thinking to myself during the 2nd song what do people do while listening to this? Drive down a dirt road? And then was immediately jarred by Mr. Spaceman. - Ending edit: I didn’t make it all the way through this album and have decided not to try.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab

Cute, light, good for passive listening. Didn't blow my mind.

Ramones by Ramones

Fun yet repetitive. At times felt like one continuous song. Made me want to play a Tony hawk playstation game.

The Renaissance by Q-Tip

I was very pleasantly surprised by this album. I loved it. An album I would put on and listen to the whole way through. The song We Fight/We Love is fantastic.

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver

This album is just fine for someone who really loves St. Vincent. Slow Motion is a good song, but other than that I could take it or leave it.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre

I could do without the skits.
