Review: An interesting album -- It's like a weird mix of Jazz, Classical, and Rock. Pretty good! Last track is very FOTS-like.
Favorite Track: Time
In one word: Wonkiness
It's decent -- I love the vibes of the album but not so much the type of music.
Favorite Track: Season of the Witch
In one word: Cod
Some great metal-ish music! Don't like the album cover but the songs are cool :)
Favorite Track: Livin' on a Prayer
In one word: Slaps
Bad
very creative utilization of the instrumental. vocals sound a bit muddy. some tracks feel like they end too soon, and i feel like more should be added to those.
fav track: when the sun goes down
absolutely cannot stand the weird panning/stereo whatever in the first track. other than that the rest of the album is alright
it's not as bad as i was expecting but not something i'd go out of my way to listen to
love it. :) the live recording is a bit weird being in there, especially since the quality is noticably worse than the rest of the album. though, it transitions into the final track pretty well. that does mess up stuff when listening to that one track, though.
overall, good.
fav track: bridge over troubled water / cecilia
Honestly the worst album I've ever heard.
okay, this is probably my first "objective" review.
the best way I could describe this album is Southern Classic Rock with hints of Country? don't get me wrong, it's better and more listenable than a lot of other albums, but it doesn't really have the oomph for me.
I guess I'm not really a fan of Country/non-electric stuff in general.
no favorites this time, all of the songs kind of sound the same.
pretty good! especially liked tracks 4 and 5
this album has some really high highs (specifically the first and last tracks for me) and is fun to listen to
there are quite a few things to enjoy here but nothing that pushes this above "a bit above average" for me. i'd probably give a 3.5 if i could but it leans a bit higher i guess. some parts are also a bit noisy
knew going into this that it was something i wasn't going to enjoy. like i actually cringed at the thought of listening to this. i'd generally regard myself as pretty patient but it was hard to sit through this record. by track 5 it finally hit me how ridiculous this record is and i started giggling at it. i would put this above "is not music" tier but it still fucking sucks lol
it's decent, "sixteen" feels very creepy though and there's only two songs i thoroughly enjoyed. i'd give a 3.5
perhaps i just haven't listened to it enough or i'm too used to nevermind but i can't push past like a low 3
i think the last track really was what made me "get" this record. it's quite good and pretty consistent throughout, i think i would probably listen to this again
not quite as bad as i was expecting it to be but it drags on and on with every song sounding essentially the same. it's not too hard to listen to but this album is just... forgettable. mid 2
it's easy to see how the masses were fascinated by the band with a record like this. while their later releases are more sophisticated and experimental, this one is just fun. i'm not giving it a 5 solely because of the sheer amount of covers on this record, but they're still pulled off quite well.
i was so ready to be done with this by the end. it's another one that just drags on for far too long. there are some parts i vibed with more than others and it's more listenable than l'eau rouge but i still find it hard to give it more than a 1. i mean it's not Bad but it certainly isn't something i ever want to hear again
instrumentally this album is ehh. vocally... there's a lot to talk about. it all just feels so angry and full of hatred, there's tons of misogyny and homophobia throughout. it feels like ragebait in musical form. i guess it probably also appeals to its intended audience of middle school bullies. the vocal style is very whiny and obnoxious and there's the occasional weird scat singing that just makes me pause for a second and actually laugh at the absurdity of it. was quite ready to be over with this by the end.
i think this is above average for me but it feels a little too long and a lot of the lyrics are just completely inaudible because they're either drowned out by the instrumentation or are really distorted
i actually quite enjoyed speakerboxxx and specifically "ghettomusick" and "church" for their synthy aspects. the love below is... creepy, weird, and made me uncomfortable to listen to; the only thing it has going for it is "hey ya," but i may just be saying that because that's the only track i was previously familiar with. this rating is purely for the combined qualities of both albums, speakerboxxx would probably get a 4 from me on its own
not really my thing
was done with this about halfway through. probably makes more sense if you're high
