The politest thing to say is that this album and style of music is not my thing at all. Losing You from Solanges previous album is a great pop tune. There is nothing on this mid paced dreary r&b follow up that comes anywhere close. The interludes are annoying and the guests do nothing to add to the record. No idea how this could be in the best 1001 anything! One star is generous!
An album I’ve known and owned (on cassette) for a long time. Not my favourite Queen album but still very good. You’re My Best Friend is one of Deacons best and Love of My Life is as good a singalong anthem as Queen ever wrote
Another very good album and deservedly won the Mercury. Probably marginally my second favourite album of his but not a criticism!
I didn’t really get MBV at the time this was released but says more about the music I was listening to then. Looking back 30 years it was very much ahead of its time and influential to many bands since then. Soon is great but some of the rest of the album washes over me a bit. More of a ‘single track on radio’ than ‘listen to whole album’ for me but I don’t dislike it

This isn’t a genre I’m a huge fan of and listening to this album doesn’t really change that. It’s fine but washes over me a bit without being particularly memorable. I like some of the Bowie albums from this era (but not all) so again just not to my taste
The thing about The Doors that I have always struggled with is the noodling. When there’s a mix between 3 minute pop songs and 10 minute wig outs it all seems a little unbalanced. I love a keyboard but less a fan of a keyboard solo! Has its moments but overall not my thing
Not sure that this album has aged all that well, not in terms of the music but the language used. This album is fine but I’m not sure it’s amongst the best hip hop albums from this era. Several of the singles are covers and the original content is a step down
First time I’ve listened to this album and can really hear the influence it has had on a number of subsequent albums. For example the first Snow Patrol record. A little bit patchy and maybe too many songs but has its moments
I liked Wild Beasts. This album is good but not as good as those that followed, particularly Boy King. The falsetto can grate a little after a while but overall an enjoyable listen
Queen aside glam rock (never mind glam punk) would not be a genre I’m a fan of. I’ve never heard of The Dictators before and nothing here would make me want to listen again
I remember this album from a particular time in my life. It has its moments. Breaking the Girl is still a great song, whilst the 2 big singles haven’t aged badly. The rest though isn’t great and it’s overly long too
I remember this album being better then it actually is. Two strong singles but quite a lot of filler and a bit samey. Had been a while since I’d listened to it - it’ll be a while before I listen to it again!
Classic blues rock album. Can really hear the impact this had on a lot of subsequent bands. Enjoyable listen and has aged well
The adverts thing really begins to grate after a while, which is disappointing as some of the music is good and has aged well. I’ve always associated The Who as being a rock band whereas this is a pop record and all the better for it
Great album. Can’t believe it’s 35 years old. Not a bad track on it. Easily best I’ve listened to so far and better than I’d remembered it being
Great album. Had been awhile since I’d listened but really enjoyed that. Climbatize is amongst the best things the Prodigy have done. One Star off for that Firestarter nonsense but otherwise a top album

Listening to this you can really hear the influence Joni has had on a lot of modern singer songwriters. Laura Marling particularly comes to mind. Not a type of music I’m much of a fan of but it’s fine for background music
Again not the sort of music I listen to normally but it’s fine. The 2 big singles stand out maybe due to familiarity, but not so,etching I’d chose to listen to
I’m a fan of Mark Lanegan without ever having gone back and properly listened to Screaming Trees. This is a good album and was a lot more accessible than I’d expected it to be, despite not containing any of the Screaming Trees songs I knew
My Mum owned this album when I was little so I’ve been familiar with it for a long time. Still stands up as a strong pop record though probably not my favourite ABBA record. Money x3 is a particular highlight but most of my other favourite songs are on other albums
Not listened to this album before. The 2 big singles are great. The rest is fairly standard fare for it’s time but is fine
I was never a huge Cheap Trick fan - they’re fine but there are better bands from that genre. Also I’m not a big fan of live albums! So this was never likely to be a big hit for me. It’s ok but nothing special
Great album. Couple of weaker tracks but otherwise pop perfection. And has lasted really well too!
Writing to Reach You remains the best song Travis have recorded. Album is fine but was never one of my favourite britpop albums of this period
