Fela KutiExceptional rhythm driven jazz rock. Filled with polyrhythms where the bass line provides the stable foundation, and the licks come from horns and multiple percussionists ride on top. Happy to have discovered this!

One of my favorite lives albums. Dylan essentially invented the rock concert. He started the practice of musicians bringing their own speakers and audio equipment to venues. And his audience wasn't ready for it. They angrily turned on him, and as their chanting and anger reaches a crescendo, he tells Robbie Robertson to "play fucking loud".
I don't know what it is about steely Dan for me. I recognize they are consummate professionals with exquisite musicianship. But I just don't feel moved when I listen to them.
It's like an alternate universe beach boys with more Internet rythyms, and less melody
This is one of those albums I can't believe I'd never heard before. So original. So influential. And so good.
Classic over the top operatic rock.
Still as exceptional 30 years later.
