Day 1 I'm rating these albums song by song and then taking the added total to come to a score. I know this probably isn't the best or most fair way to rate them but I think it will be best in terms of overall listening and coming back to songs. I'm also listening to the albums by searching them on YouTube and going to an album playlist. Also, take these reviews with a grain of salt, compared to a lot of people I've listened to very little music. Hopefully these 1001 days will expand my music palette. He's the Greatest Dancer - 9/10 - this song is awesome Lost in Music - 7/10 Somebody Loves Me - 5/10 Thinking of You - 6/10 We Are Family - 7/10 - overplay probably affected the score but it's still a good one Easier to Love - 7/10 You're a Friend to Me - 5/10 One More Time - 5/10 *I'm not including the 2 remixes for We Are Family and Lost and Music since I don't think a remix does too much for a song.* Overall: The scores add up to 51/80 or about 64%. Until tomorrow.

Day 2 Deceptacon - 9/10 - I'm pretty sure I've heard this one before from TikTok. I actually like this trend that I've had today and yesterday where I know one song and the rest are completely new to me. This song is cool and a good show of what I've come to associate this band with by the end of the album without going as off the rails as some of the others do. Hot Topic - 7/10 What's Yr Take On Cassavetes - 4/10 - If Deceptacon was the band doing too much (good ending), this is the band doing too much (bad ending). It still doesn't fall under 4 for me though as the sound of the band is there, it's just too much happening. The The Empty - 5/10 - it honestly reminds me of a band playing in a garage in a movie but not in a good way. Not terrible, I just know they can do better. Phanta - 7/10 - cool Eau d'Bedroom Dancing - 6/10 - the sound isn't bad but again it feels clustered with seemingly random sounds thrown in Let's Run - 8/10 - feels a bit like the first song but with more random sounds thrown in My My Metrocard - 7/10 Friendship Situation - 6/10 Sideshow at Free University - 6/10 Dude, Yr So Crazy - 8/10 Les and Ray - 8/10 - weirdly good which isn't irregular from how the other good songs feel but this one is especially weird Overall: The bands sound seems like an attempt at throwing things at the wall until they work and it works more often than not. 81/120 or 68%
Day 3 I didn't this it would be this soon that I got a band this well known. Obviously I know the beach boys but looking through the track list I didn't recognize a single song. Also, I wrote the review for this one song by song as opposed to the first two days. Do You Wanna Dance? - 4/10 - way too repetitive (yes I know it's the beach boys but even for them it's a little much) but just based off of how nice the beach boys voice sounds is keeping it from under 4 Good To My Baby - 6/10 Don't Hurt My Little Sister - 8/10 - fun premise, also is a nice break from the super upbeat stuff I'm accustomed to hearing from the beach boys When I Grow Up (To Be A Man) - 3/10 - not into this one. whatever the backing instrument is for most of the song just kind of sucks and whoever is the main guy singing here is clearly the worst singer of the band imo. also it's just kind of a mediocre premise for a song that they do poorly Help Me, Rhonda - 5/10 Dance, Dance, Dance - 8/10 - I like this one. It sounds like the type of music I would actually like to hear at the beach. Please Let Me Wonder - 8/10 - didn't expect a slow love song (tbf idk if this would even be considered a love song) to work this well from them I'm So Young - 4/10 - Yeah this is more what I expected from a love song from them. It just feels very void of substance and kind of a stupid topic after the last song. Kiss Me, Baby - 5/10 - mostly inoffensive (Note: I swear they start off every other song on this album with that whiney "OoOoOoH") She Knows Me Too Well - 8/10 - I appreciate the minor tone of the song. I also find the blatant admittance of being an asshole who makes the girl he likes cry pretty interesting. (I know it was a different time but it's still funny.) This is easily the best song on the album but I don't think it compares to the actually fun classic Beach Boys songs that just aren't on this album. In The Back Of My Mind - 5/10 - this feels like the most genuine expression of emotion on the album so far. Just wish it sounded better. And then the 12th track is just some filler track of the boys getting sandwiches or something so I won't add that tto the rating Overall: It's better than I expected from a list of songs I've never heard from one of the bigger bands I've ever heard. 64/110 or 58%
Day 4 Right off the bat, I have to admit that I'm really not a fan of Live performances as an album. Let it be known that this will very likely affect my score on this. Let's Start - 6 Black Man's Cry -7 Ye Ye De Smell - 8 - the keyboard in the background gives this song a unique feel Egbe Mi O - 7 Overall: I think it's a really cool sound. I think all the songs are absolutely way too long but I also recognize that it's a lice show and that's totally acceptable in live shows. 28/40 or 70%
Day 5 Misunderstood - 4 - Boring Far, Far Away - 5 - 2 songs in and I have already decided this guy has a boring voice. I like some of the guitar stuff he's doing though Monday - 7 - more upbeat song is nice, the background singers during the chorus certainly help and I really like the saxophone (I think it's a saxophone, I'm chronically bad with knowing instruments) I really hope this is where we lean towards more during the rest of this album. Outtasite (Outta Mind) - 6 - like the last song but less fun Forget the Flowers - 5 Red-Eyed and Blue - 6 - would have been 5 if they didn't add the whistling I Got You - 6 - I liked the song except once again the voice just isn't good. It doesn't help that the lyrics aren't anything to write home about. What's the World Got in Store - 3 - It reminds me of the song Adam Sandler plays in The Wedding Singer except a lot worse Hotel Arizona - 5 - not much to talk about here although I like the idea of each state having a song about their hotel Say You Miss Me - 6 - this song actually does have some things going for it. I like the instrumentals and I like the "oo oo oo" from the background singers. I'd be hard pressed to say this is a good song but it's one of the better ones on the album. Sunken Treasure - 4 - too long. doesn't justify its existence. his voice doesn't really work for this type of song. Someday Soon - 5 - it's short. gotta appreciate the short ones on these types of albums. Outta Mind (Outta Sight) - 5 - the voice actually sounds better in this one than ever, the rest of the song just misses the mark Someone Else's Song - 3 - zzz mimimimimi honk shoo honk shoo 😴😴 Kingpin - 6 - a bit more of a bitter sound than what has frankly been a bunch of redneck hillbilly shit sung by someone who can't sing. The instruments still hard carry here. [Was I] In Your Dreams - 5 Why Would You Wanna Live - 6 - moreso than usual, the instruments are good here. I also like the story going on in the song. The Lonely 1 - 2 - the instruments are boring on this one. It's just a boring track over his less than impressive voice. Genuinely nothing going for this song. Dreamer in My Dreams - 5 Overall: This album could have been a fun country album or, if they really tried, a good alt album. However, the singers voice doesn't match what the instruments are trying to do. I don't know how we're being there when I personally don't think this album ever got there in the first place. 94/190 or 49%
Day 6 I'm assuming this is one of the oldest albums on the list. I only know one of these songs so let's see how this goes. 6 - only song I know from this album. It's alright. 4 - I just want to note that this song has a noticeably worse quality than the first song for some reason. I don't know what the deal with that is. Hopefully that's why it sounds this bad and it's all just a quality thing. 5 - goofy ahh song 3 - I know it was the 50s but like ??? The lyrics are so damn bad. He doesn't sound good on this song at all. The only thing this has going for it is the piano and the drums. 4 - it has to be because I'm tired that these are so lame. This song is essentially just a ballad with him singing and very little going on with instruments and while I think Elvis has a fine voice, it does not show on this song. 7 - this one is fun and is good when I consider the technology they had at the time 7 - this song is so god damn goofy but in a good way. Update on the quality btw: I think this person is literally recording straight from their vinyl record cause like you can actually hear the scratches in the audio. 5 - eh 5 5 - almost exactly the same reasoning for why I have I Love You Because as a 4 except it does a fun little tempo switch at the end so it's slightly better 2 - what I could only describe as Elvis doing his best impression of a dying dolphin over a metronome 7 - Elvis actually doesn't sound terrible on this song and the guitar on it works well. Overall: The best thing about this album is that it's short. There is not a single song that reaches the 3 minute mark and it's only 12 songs long. I actually did a bit of research into what songs are on the list and the list came out in 2005 so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that that's why some of these are the artists 3rd best albums because music was slightly harder to find back then. Overall: 60/120 or 50%
Day 7 Well, this is awkward. In my previous review where I rated some Elvis album, I gave this list the benefit of the doubt for being made in 2005 and there not being as many resources to find music then. Now I'm getting a 2006 album. Nonetheless I'm very happy to finally get my first 2000s album. I know a few songs on this album and of course know Amy Winehouse so it should be a good listen. 8 - I'm pretty sure this is her most popular song. It's the least favorite of the three I know from her but that's not to say it's bad by any means. I don't really know how to describe it but I really like the old school jukeboxy sound from this song. 9 - Funnily enough, I heard this song when I was like 8 from a Raving Rabbids game. This song is insanely good. Her voice fits this sound so well. I also love the stuff like the saxophone (?) solo. 7 - I know there's a song called Me & Mrs Jones that I have to assume this song falls somewhere in line with but I haven't heard that song and quite frankly don't care enough to listen so I'll just be judging this based on it's own merits. I think the song is fine. It kind of sounds like an old school love ballad. I don't really think her voice works all that well on this but it isn't bad. 7 - a lot of the same feelings as the last track. She seems to have a rougher voice which can be a very good thing but I don't think it works on these slower love songs. 6 - this one wasn't interesting to me. 8 - I don't know what the difference between this song and the other love songs are but this one is doing it for me. 8 - it kind of sounds like those songs at the end of family movies which is great because I love cheesy songs like that. It's also just nice where it sounds like Amy Winehouse is having fun. 7 - it has a bittersweet sound. I like it. 6 7 5 - not feeling this one. Something about the background instruments and the lyrics and her voice aren't adding up. But you know you're doing something right when me not feeling a song is a 5. The playlist I used to listen to this album also had a overwatch video in it for some reason. 🤷♂️ Overall: This album was awesome. There's a lot of fun songs on here and while I do think there are some skips I don't think there are any genuine stinkers. 76/110 or 69% however I'm going to give it 4 stars despite the numbers not adding up like that because I can and it's my review. RIP Amy Winehouse
Day 8 Hi. Don't mind me if I don't add comments to most of these songs. I'm in a rush and also this album just kind of sucks. TV Set - 5 - When I was looking up the band, the song Goo Goo Muck came up. I knew the name but I didn't know why. It's apparently a song from Wednesday. If you played these songs one after the other I could not tell you the difference. Rock On The Moon - 3 - hard listen. Garbageman - 4 - the guitar is so much louder and noticeable than the voice and it's playing like two strings for the whole song. I Was A Teenage Werewolf - 6 - less stupid sounding than the other songs but the vocalist just sucks. Sunglasses After Dark - 6 - the guitar is fine and the vocals are less bad than usual. The Mad Daddy - 4 - I like the screams at the beginning. The guitar isn't awful but it's a guitar line the album has shown like 5 times now. The guitar and lyrics get jumbled a lot. Mystery Plane - 5 Zombie Dance - 2 - Take every problem I've said about every one of the last songs and throw it into one song. Sucks cause Zombie Dance is a cool name. What's Behind The Mask - 4 - the same. exact. guitar line. Strychnine - 7 - a different guitar sequence for once! the voice also doesn't sound super awful here. I'm Cramped - 5 - it starts exceptionally dumb but then goes back to a slightly better version of the guitar mush we've been hearing. This is one of the better ones purely because we aren't hearing much voice. Tear It Up - 3 - fun fact: the Elvis album I reviewed previously was 24 years before this album came out. So not only is this poorly dated now, it was even poorly dated then. Fever - 5 - this is a slower, low tempo song which works to it's advantage because when this band does faster songs they sound like hillbillies. It's not really interesting though. Overall: idk I just kind of think this band sucks or at least that's my opinion from this album alone 59/130 or 45%
Day 9 I've never heard of this band. Show Me - 8/10 - I've gotta admit that I'm a sucker for this type of music. The catchy chorus, the early techno beats, the synth. Not to mention this guy actually has quite a good voice. This has potential to be my highest rated album so far if it sticks to this type of music. Poison Arrow - 8/10 - the part where he goes heeeaaart in the background is great. A lot of the similarities to the last song where the focus is the chorus and the rest of the song is meant to be flashy to get you to the chorus. Personally, I don't mind that at all. This is a song that is made of the 80s and I would be able to tell it's from this era without knowing. Many Happy Returns - 7/10 - not as fun as the last two but still great Tears Are Not Enough - 7/10 - this beat is so damn funky (in a good way). Weirdly this one has the opposite problem where the rest of the song is great but the chorus is kind of lackluster. Valentine's Day - 7/10 The Look of Love (part 1) - 9/10 - this song is so fun!!! the background in general, the little add ins, the conversations he has with himself, the slight Banjo (?) strums. The chorus and rest of the song are good here. Fantastic one. Date Stamp - 6/10 - starts weird. Some parts of the background are weird like the single notes they add in but the girl singer is really good on this. All of My Heart - 7/10 - reminds me of end critics songs honestly. It's good but jt doesn't do as much for me as some of the more fun songs. Also a bit long. 4 Ever 2 Gether - 6/10 - the intro to the song sounds weirdly like the one metroid song. This is a weird song. It's like a sci-fi inspired rock ballad. I don't hate it but it's not his forte imo. The Look of Love (Part 4) - 10/10 - I don't know if there's a part 2 and part 3 I'm missing and it's not on the playlist album I found (the playlist has 14 songs. I've seen some playlists have 10, some have like 30. This was just the first one that came up.) Either way, this is just great. It's just a small section of the look of love part 1 but it's all instrumental. I know there's a heavy praise and connotation in giving anything a 10 so I want to preface that to me a 10 is a song where there's nothing I would change about it. Obviously as I'm doing these once per day a 10 may be less accurate here but I will stand by my opinion on this being a 10. Edit: I looked up the tracklist on Google. Apparently this album has 10 songs and the last 4 at the end of the album are bonus tracks. As such, I'll listen them to my spare them but won't include them on here or in the final review. Overall: This album showed me just how great the 80s can be. The last album I reviewed was an honestly really boring album from 1980 (to be fair, it being boring could be a genre thing more than a time thing) but this shows the flare and fun of the 80s. 75/100 or 75% This album is really making me rethink how I rate albums cause this is a certified recommendation but it's hard to say that with a 75% rating. I'll see how a few more go and then consider it.
Day 10 I've never heard of Pavement but them being a 90s band can either bode really well or really poorly. Silence Kid - 6 - it's fine. Nothing that really sticks out besides how the guitar player needs to be doing less. I think the voice is pretty nice in this one though. Elevate Me Later - 5 - sounds like every other soft rock band to me so far Stop Breathin - 7 - the guitar is better on this one because it let's the voice shine more. Cut Your Hair - 7 - this one just sounds fun Newark Wilder - 6 - like elevator music if it was rock Unfair - 5 - it has a fun kick to it from the guitar but it just reminds me of songs that do this type of beat better Gold Soundz - 4 - I don't usually care about lyrics too much but "and we're coming to the chorus now" right before the chorus is a goofy line that this band isn't equipped to make. Note that this isn't why it's a 4 btw. 5-4=Unity - 7 - weird one but not bad Range Life - 4 - too long for a song that wasn't very good Heaven Is A Truck - 3 - I should give it a 0 for the name alone but it does have some weird charm in the midst of the awful vocals and the barebones guitar. Not good by any means but higher than I would like to rate it. Hit The Plane Down - 3 - similarly bad to the last track. Fillmore Jive - 4 - sounds like a jumble of sounds more than actual music. There are some good parts but that will happen when you make seven minute songs. Overall: not into it. Too jumbled to work imo. 61/120 or about 50%
Day 11 Apparently I initially missed this. I thought I had one more day but I was trudging through a Pavement album. Hopefully this one is better. Halfway Home - 5 - I enjoyed the peppy start of it. I think the voice is okay but I'm really hoping I'm shown that it can do more than I'm hearing on this track. Crying - 5 Dancing Choose - 5 - it was kind of fun I guess. Stork & Owl - 6 - reminds me of the my singing monsters song Golden Age - 5 - crazy that they got Herbert from family guy to sing this one. It picks up near the end though so I'll add a point to the 4 I was going to give it. Family Tree - 7 - sounds nice. Red Dress - 6 - like dancing choose but actually fun Love Dog - 4 - not into it. Shout Me Out - 5 DLZ - 5 - eh Lovers Day - 4 - Boring Make Love All Night Long - 6 Heroic Dose - 3 - too long and doesn't do anything interesting Overall: mediocre for a band with such a cool name 66/130 or about 50%
Day 12 Don't think I know this lady. I was born in 2002 though so here's hoping. Don't Know Why - 7 - I actually have heard this song before. It's nice. Seven Years - 6 - it was alright. Having a naturally nice voice certainly helps. Cold Cold Heart - 5 Feelin The Same Way - 6 - sounds alright but doesn't feel unique Come Away With Me - 4 - this one crosses too far into the boring category for me to bother with it Shoot The Moon - 7 - this song conveys emotion really well and the instruments play a nice part which is something I couldn't really say for the other songs Turn Me On - 5 - I don't think this song works well as a piano ballad when it's called turn me on. It doesn't sound sexy (which I do think in certain parts of the song she's trying to). It also doesn't help that she compares her dry pussy to the desert waiting for the rain which references a song I like a lot better than this one. Lonestar - 5 - after seeing the name of the title, I looked up Lonestar which was one of my favorite places to eat growing up. Most of them are closed up but apparently it's because some guy ejaculated on a steak? Not too sure about how true that one is. Anyway, mediocre song. I've Got To See You Again - 7 - this one is a nice change of pace. I think the song is good, I just think other people have a better voice for this type of song Painter Song - 6 - this song is good. I'm a bit burnt out from these lovey, longing songs but it's still a good listen. However, I think a cool idea would be to do this song without any of the instruments and maybe in a minor tone to make it a creepy song. One Fight Down - 7 - Yeah idk I don't have any complaints for this song. I think some things could be better but it's a pretty solid song Nigthingale - 4 - Nightingale sounds a whole lot like God. This song doesn't have much going for it besides the guitar part. The Long Day Is Over - 5 - I feel like I'm supposed to be sad but I can't get myself to care enough to feel it. The Nearness Of You - 6 - has a bittersweet tone or like a tone where you just ended something you knew you had to. Overall: it was okay. Similarly to the album before, eh. Although unlike the other album, I actually do think she has a ton of potential, probably just not the songs for me. 74/130 or 57%
Day 13 Oh, hey. It's the Beatles. Weird they'd add a small obscure band like them on here. We continue the trend of me not knowing a single song on here which is weird cause well... it's the Beatles. Whelp let's get into it. Drive My Car - 7 - the chorus on this one is pretty good Norwegian Wood - 6 You Won't See Me - 5 - the deciding point on whether this was a 5 or 6 was whether there was a guitar solo (or any other instrument solo) just cause it feels like that's what it's leading to and there wasn't one Nowhere Man - 6 - it's fine Think For Yourself - 5 - mid The Word - 5 - it doesn't help that I'm listening to this while sleep deprived but this song sounds largely the same as the rest to me so far Michelle - 9 - the choice to use the voices as the backing instruments is so good and then the little guitar solo rocks too. And the main singing is actually good. Incredibly good change of pace. What Goes On - 4 - and then we go back to songs like this that sound like CCR at their hillbillyest Girl - 8 - like Michelle but worse but trust me when I say it's not worse by much. Clearly I'm a sucker for whatever the sound in these types of songs are. Looking Through You - 5 In My Life - 7 - I liked it but not quite as much as the other ones Wait - 7 - nice song, sounds the most rock of any song on the album yet If I Needed Someone - 5 - eh Run For Your Life - 5 Overall: I think the album is pretty mediocre except for some fantastic highlights. 84/140 or 60%
Day 14 I had some of this review done here but then the website reset and I didn't have my stuff saved so excuse me if some of the songs have less of an explanation. Hidden Place - 7 Cocoon - 6 It's Not Up To You - 8 - unsettling Undo - 5 Pagan Poetry - 5 - pretty easy listening, might rate it higher if I felt emotionally attached during the song but I just couldn't get there Frosti - 5 Aurora - 5 - I have nothing to say for most of these except they're fine. Honestly the songs are mostly indistinguishable. An Echo, A Storm - 6 - idk, I guess it's a bit creepier sounding which is cool Sun In My Mouth - 5 Heirloom - 6 - voice sounded good but it's still like every other song on this album Harm of Will - 7 - this one sounded a bit better than the others. Don't know why. Unison - 7 Generous Palmstroked - 5 Overall: it was fine. It's okay for an album to have a sound, I just don't like it when it's this focused to wear I literally can't tell multiple songs apart. 77/140 or 55%
