The album is so human. I don't know how else to put it. It acknowledges and adresses many of the things that influence us, religion, school, our peers, societal constructs. The beats are driving and the songs were written in the context of each other in a way that is missing from many albums. This was a cohesive project and tells a clear (and well articulated) story from beginning to end.
It is easy for an album like this to sound overproduced, but it doesn't feel that way at all. I appreciate how you can listen through without feeling like you're listening to a new song. It is cohesive, it feels like a club set, which should be a goal for this genre. I'm not super familiar with the genre overall, but this is surely a revolutionary album. I've not listened to really anything else like it.
I really appreciated this album and it was incredibly artful. I don’t see it being something I keep on rotation but if I heard it while out and about, I wouldn’t mind a bit.
This one is about the lyricism. Top tier. You can always count on 2pac for good music.
The album feels overproduced and it was tough to really get into it. It’s definitely an outlier to a lot of 2010s music which I appreciate. I like a lot of the ideas here but it really didn’t do anything special for me. I’ll give it 3 stars to be generous.
Maybe it’s my bias in favor of rock and roll, but this album is and will always be one of my favorites. Its yet more evidence that the 90s were rich with music that has important impact on all music that came after. No notes.
Great sun out windows open album. It isn't afraid to take influence from early rock but it also has elements that you would expect from an album of this era. Truly good music. I judged this one by the cover at first and shouldn’t have.
This album was emotional and enjoyable.
Ethereal, whimsical, sophisticated rhythms and a fascinating combination of sounds. It feels experimental in a way. Overall I really liked it.
I really just did not like this much. It wasn’t cohesive and more than one song was super weird. I couldn’t get through it.
This album just feels so random. And a little piratey at times? It’s definitely cool and musically very interesting. I just probably won’t ever listen again. It is an interesting auditory exercise.
Kind of strange but not bad
Where has this been all my life!? Definitely has some… interesting bits. But it works. And parts are just musically wonderful. Just really astute and talented. I enjoyed this one. Not quite five stars but not quite four. I’ll go high to be polite.
Not many albums have more than one of the best songs ever written. But the whole album is just so incredible. One of my all time favorites. 5 stars.
Very British. I enjoyed. The premise is interesting and the sound is solid. Not great but good.
I really just love jazz and this is some of the best I’ve heard in a while. It’s like NPR jazz hour but in my living room.
Some great stuff but mostly not my vibe.
This one got weird but was still fun.
Good road-trip tunes for the ride home for break
The pet shop boys have better stuff than this but I would say this is their median work and it’s a good representation of them. I liked the album. Stuff between three and four stars because I did download some of the music but not all of it.
Just so classic and wonderful.
This is a great album. I’ve already downloaded a few of the songs but I enjoyed the ones I hadn’t heard before.
Makes use of some interesting instruments that you don’t hear enough of.
Not super original or anything. Typical British music of the era, I feel. And not even a particularly great example imo. Good regardless.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but this is really good
I was so pleasantly surprised by this. It feels timeless but still quintessentially 70s.
I am glad I found this album. I never paid much attention to QOTSA but if this album is any indication, I will have to listen more.
Despite being her debut, this is the less listened to of her albums. I'm glad I got a chance to critically revisit it. I miss her.
Some songs great. Some not so great. I was never a huge fan of Cohen’s so this is about what I expected.
Not really my vibe but fine.
