1001 Albums Summary

This was a favorite of mine in my teen years of the late 90s. Brings back the feeling of freedom that came with having a car to take myself out of the suburb and into the city. Crossing the river into Cincinnati with the windows down to let in the sticky night air, on the way to go smoke clove cigarettes and drink maple coffee at the nocturnal coffeehouse. Big Hands, I know you're the one. 5

The birth of lo-fi?

I love David Bowie, but I have to admit I don't care for much of this album. The title track is the only one I actually recognize and I think there's a reason for that. The rest of it is kind of jangly and disjointed, probably like the rest of his life at that time. Still, 3 stars because Bowie and one very good song.

Didn't make it all the way through the album because the tracks were long and repetitive. Still good to experience a different time and place in music.

A difficult but artful album.

I'm not afraid to lose cool-points. I'll admit it. I don't like Sonic Youth. It's jangly and annoying and I couldn't even make it through a 3rd song.
