Cheap Thrills
Big Brother & The Holding CompanyIn retrospect, BB and the Holding Company was Janis' best band. They were good but loose enough that the musicians were relatable. Janis sounds great and the song selections are all good.

Excellent! Love the sounds of the guitars, bass, and drums throughout; most of the songs are good compositions.
I can't seem to appreciate heavy metal music.
This is a very good album - their only good one, in my opinion. The production and arrangements are "fuller" than on their first album, and the addition of Neil Young's songs enhance the quality of the band's performances greatly.
Outstanding! Neil was going for a "grungier" sound at this time in his career, not being swayed by commercial considerations, and as a result he has produced an album of powerful songs with a loose instrumental feel.
A pretty good double-album although the arrangements begin to sound alike after a while.
The album is too "electronic" for me, and many of the songs are "dark" and a bit monotonous.
There is much musical virtuosity here but the songs are rambling and similar-sounding due to the common arrangements.
Heavy metal ..... screeching vocals ..... the guitars sound good but also become monotonous after a few songs. I can't listen to this album for long.
Interesting resource for one form of international (to Americans) music.
Wonderful! Marvelous! Good songs and stellar harmonies.
I enjoy Reed's tendency to produce "minimalist" rock with lyrics that cover a variety of sometimes controversial topics. His vocal range is modest and his voice tends to be quiet, which adds to the appeal of the songs.
