Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Jul 10 2023

A walk down memory lane. I haven’t listened to the album start-to-finish since the early 2000’s. It holds up as a very strong product of its time and as a great album about heartbreak and pain in relationships. She was the slightly older, more edgy Taylor Swift of her era, a Canadian legend.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jul 14 2023

Never listened to this album outside of the singles. It’s pretty wacky. I like it. And I think… I love it. But jack white clearly knows how to get the most out of two people.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Jul 15 2023

Gotta say maybe I’m not in the head space for it today, and while the music all sounds interesting. This just isn’t my cup o’tea. First two tracks did nothing for me. Almost stopped listening. 3. Too Shy to Say is wonderful. 4. Boogie on Reggae Woman is funky as funk, and I love me some Harmonica. 5. Creepin’ has a straight up creepy intro sound like an 80’s video game horror level. The back up singer at the end threw me off. But the whole song has the feel of repeating a side scrolling level in a 8-bit video game set in Egypt or a graveyard. 6.. You haven’t Done Nothing’- Second helping of serious funk, really like the vocals, and being a big Chicago fan means horns are always welcomed. 7. It Ain’t No Use - takes the foot of the pedal, stops traffic, not in a good way. The back up singers are working miracles here, only redeeming part of the track for me. 8- They Won’t Go When I Go - serious Beethoven vibes at the beginning, then a little Mozart - ballads are great but this just feels like a drag, which I’m sure is the intension but I need more funk. 9. Bird of Beauty - and the Funk is back, got like a Brazilian samba vibe, lots going on from the mid point of the track on, it’s kinda much. 10.. Please Don’t Go - Maybe top three tracks for me on the album, it’s just got great energy and feels fun. Harmonica again throughout love it. He’s a wonderful singer, and song arrangements are interesting, definitely not run of the mill R&B, it just isn’t landing with me. It’s like Mangos… exotic, sweet, good for the soul… I just fucking hate the way mangos taste. Which is sad because I want to enjoy mangos just like everyone else… they just do go down the same for me as everyone else. Respect the talent, respect the man, just doesn’t hit.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jul 16 2023

A classic, has some low moments but otherwise pretty damn good. Roadhouse Blues and Peace Frog almost don’t even feel like they’re part of the album because of how many times I’ve heard them on soundtracks or on the radio.

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Jul 17 2023

This is funky, 90s, sexy-time music at its best. Lots babies were probably made to this album.

If you’re up for drinking moonshine and eyeing an immediate family with lustful intent this needs to be your slow jams 95’.

Arrival by ABBA
Aug 08 2023

Some good songs but a whole album of ABBA is a big ask for my ears.
