1001 Albums Summary

I usually need to listen to an album multiple times before I can truly appreciate it but this was a good listen and incredible drums like wow. Favorite tracks: Love Is A Hurtin' Thing, Gotta Keep On Tryin' Till I Win Your Love

Honestly wasn't expecting much out of this one especially since I don't listen to this genre too much but got a good bit out of it. Excited to get into more of his discography since this is my first album from Marvin that I've listened to. Good album Favorite tracks: Keep Gettin' It On, You Sure Love To Ball, Just To Keep You Satisfied

Very interesting listen, I went into knowing nothing since I just haven't heard of this group ever before but I was pleasantly surprised. I will never forgive them for not doing anything with the Heat Miser instrumental though. Most songs do not need an instrumental outro that takes up half the song. Not my thing found it kinda boring sadly. I usually think of older albums like this pretty boring and this album is a perfect example of this, maybe it'll grow on me though. Favorite Track: The Healer

This is one I've been meaning to listen to for a while, as a hip-hop fan Wu-Tang Clan is constantly brought up and I can see why through this album. I think it could just be a perfect album, I gotta listen to it more though. Favorite Tracks: Bring Da Ruckus, Shame On a Buddy, Method Man

Just a powerful album with amazing vocals and production, could easily be a 5 out of 5 if I listen to it more. Favorite Tracks: Nick Of Time, Thing Called Love, Nobody's Girl, Too Soon To Tell, I Ain't Gonna Let You Break My Heart Again

This is so close to being a perfect album on first listen which is so rare for me. This album could very well become a perfect one on more listens but for now I just really like it. Never listened to Steely Dan but I hear major similarities to Billy Joel who I do quite like, I wonder if he was inspired by Steely Dan at all. An old album that's actually good? Wow so shocking, never really listened to Ice Cube before this but after listening to this project I wanna go more into his discography Favorite Tracks: What They Hittin' Foe?, You Can't Fade Me/JD's Gaffilin', Once Upon A Time In The Projects, Turn Off The Radio, Endangered Species, A Gangsta's Fairytale, Who's The Mack?

Weird first listen since I've only heard of Public Enemy and never heard anything from them. Good album but some tracks kinda drag on and the album itself is a bit too long imo. Favorite Tracks: Bring The Noise, Don't Believe The Hype, Louder Than A Bomb, Caught Can We Get A Witness?, She Watch Channel Zero?!, Prophets Of Rage, Party For Your Right To Fight

Wow this one actually blew me away on first listen when I wasn't expecting that much. I had never heard of Kelela besides her feature on "A Seat at the Table" by Solange only realizing she was featured on it in the middle of listening. I don't think this album is perfect but it's the most I've felt while listening to an album in a long long time, first time I've felt this way to an album during these 1001 listens. The vocals, the production, the lyrics, the vocals, the vocals, and the VOCALS on this are all in credible and I cannot recommend enough. I am not listening to this album, I have trouble focusing on a 4 minute song let alone a 16 minute one???? Make shorter albums NOW Favorite Tracks: IDC

Interesting listen, always heard of prince but never actually listened and I find this album to be pretty good. I think a lot of the songs kinda go on a little long and get a bit uninteresting but its okay. I see some people calling this like one of the best albums ever made or something and I just can't see that really, sorry, not for me. Favorite Tracks: Let's Go Crazy, Darling Nikki, When Doves Cry

Skimmed through this one because of the 11 minute first track and I can tell that this album is NOT for me. Long tracks, instrumental tracks, stranger production, ehhhhhhhhh. Favorite Tracks:

My favorite album of all time PERIOD. I wasn't really expecting there to be any Kanye on here so I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything about this album is just incredible from Kanye's early soul sample production to the incredible cast of mid 2000s rap legends on here, not to dismiss Kanye's rapping and singing on this album at all because that's also amazing. The skits are some of the only skits on any album that I actually find funny and well done, Late Registration's are also great though. All around incredible album and incredible listening experience could not recommend more. All Falls Down is also my favorite song of all time.
